Center channel for TriTrix Tall Boys

I have recently build a set of TriTrix Tall Boys and I’m quite impressed! My current setup has the TriTrix Tall boys as front left and right, a pair of C-Notes MT as surround, and a Jamo 550 as subwoofer. All powered by an Yamaha RX-V2700. The TriTrix Tall Boy sound great for music. But with this setup the movies dialogs do not sound right. I’m definitely missing a center channel. I have so decided I will build a center channel speaker next. I’m thinking of building another TriTrix as center channel. Would this be a good match? With this setup would you recommend building the sealed version ..read more

FS - four Dynavox LW5004PMR-N

I have four brand new Dynavox LW5004PMR-N drivers for sale. Their original selling price was $54 each from Newark, can't remember what they cost at PE. They are now NLA from PE and Newark. They are very well built 5.25" midbass drivers that remind me a lot of the Dynaudio drivers, except these have really nice cast aluminum frames instead of the cheap stamped steel frames. I opened the boxes only to measure them with my DATS to make sure they were all within factory specs. Asking $120 for all 4, plus actual UPS shipping cost. Note: I will be at the InDIYana get together in 2 weeks and will b ..read more

I am interested in finding out how to tell how many watts a pair of passive crossovers I have will take. I will be using an electronic crossover most of the time but keeping a small back up system as a backup is handy and I would like to just use a passive for that. Thanks ..read more

Help with box volume calculations

Hello! I have some car speakers so I decided to build a box for them, i used dats v3 to calculate the ts parameters, used two nickels (10 grams) to lower the fs by 25%. When I put the vas, qts, and fs into the box calculator, it produced a negative box volume. What’s going on here? Did I measure the piston wrong perhaps ..read more

Help needed, evolving a 2 way ported floor stander into a new 2.5 way design

Howdy, I have a pile of new but old drivers for designs, I intended to make 4 to 15 years ago, but at the time I didn't have the time, space, or the cash to build. I really need some good sound in my house and planned to make up a pair of two-way (35 liter/1.22 cu ft volume) half-decent speakers and retire my small active studio monitors for other duties. Before I make these up, I wanted to know if I can use the additional matching two 6.5 drivers I have to make a 2.5 way design that will with lower distortion and go a bit louder? Playing some great tunes in my Tesla today made me wonder if ..read more

Help! Any speaker builders advice, suggestions welcome

A few years back I built a pair of retro styled Mach One speakers. I wanted the vintage look and those were my first pair. The speakers sound very good. Especially after a recent tweaking of the crossovers. I decided to build a boombox also of vintage style, meaning the big boomboxes of the 80's. I had owned several of the 'classics' at one time or another, way back when. See the pic of the boombox as it currently looks. I had to go 'cheap', but I wanted something eye catching. So I used parts I had on-hand and parts from PE, including a pair of buyout 10" woofers (see T/S specs attached), a ..read more
