Problems with gear arm alignment during motor swap

While lowering the motor and transmission into the bay, the gear arm remained attached. As I continued lowering the motor, the arm became stuck. I didn't notice until it suddenly shifted (seemingly) into the correct position. However, it's actually rotated 180 degrees out of place. My questions are: 1) Has anyone experienced this before, or am I just inexperienced? 2) How can I fix this issue ..read more

Grinding Gears, use to be 3rd, but moved to 2nd

I drive a 99 civic EX coupe 1.6l non-vtec After I changed the clutch my 3rd gear would grind. It would happen every time I move the shifter lever from 2nd to 3rd, and I could prevent the grind by allowing the rpm's to drop and sync up with the engine speed and very lightly holding the lever towards 3rd until it fell into gear. (Bad syncro right?) Never had the problem before replacing the clutch. I started skipping 3rd all together. Months later I started having a grind in 2nd. But... Distributor recommendations

Hey guys, I recently got a 91 Civic LX with 89k miles. Unfortunately it does have a starting problem. Runs fine once it's started, IF it starts. Doesn't start 90% of the time. I figured it's the distributor but the hood latch is broken so I can't even open it. I'll deal with it later when I get the time, but, what brand or model do you recommend if I wanted to replace the distributor? Is this the kind that is vulnerable to oil getting in there and messing it up? Is this the right part... Distributor recommendations ..read more

I cannot figure out why my D4 light is still flashing on my 97 civic. I’ve replaced the shift and lock up solenoid. Also have replaced the transmission fluid. The code I originally had was P0700(TCM) and P0758 (shift solenoid). Replaced all of that and I am now getting only the P0700 code. I replaced the TCM and still get the same code. The car is sluggish on take off and shifts a little hard. Replaced the main relay as well and still no fix. What am I missing ..read more

I’ve been running a 1988 civic hatch for almost a year and recently it’s started turning off randomly while driving and idling. It blew a head gasket recently and some coolant got into the engine, I gave the engine a little flush and put in some bars leak and the overheating went away and it drives pretty well. However last week it’s started cutting for whatever reason. I’ve already previously replaced the fuel injector relay because of some backfiring and the car got new spark plugs and... 1988 engine cuts randomly ..read more

Adding some pep to my step! (2004 Civic LX coupe, auto)

I drive a 2004 Civic LX Coupe (1.7 liter) with an automatic transmission. I've had the car since it was new, and I think it's time to breathe some new life into it. I don't have a lot of mechanical knowledge when it comes to cars, but now that it's older I am not afraid to get my hands dirty and learn to do some modifications/improvements. I don't have a ton of money but I planned on doing a few things here and there. Starting with the intake, then exhaust, and possibly ignition components... Adding some pep to my step!
