Hello all,
So I traded for a nice quarter sized bounce mushroom about 3 weeks ago. I have had it in a container with rock rubble since then and it still has not attached to a rock!!! It has attached to the side of the container twice where I have had to go in and remove it and try again. What can I do here to get the dang thing to attach to rock ..read more

Hello guys. I am a Brazilian guy who grew up in Philippines.
30 years ago, I had a marine aquarium(FOWLR) for around 5 years, since I live near the beach. Getting seawater and buying fish were easy back then.
Anyway, I stopped the hobby when there was a typhoon that caused a massive blackout for days, which caused most of my fishes to die. I did not restart because of school + I really did not have the time/money.
For the past 20 years, I always wanted to go back to the hobby, and...

Hi Everyone!
My 250 gallon (with 50 gallon sump) peninsula has been up and running for 8 months. Went through the whole ugly / dinos phase 3-4 months ago when nitrates / phosphates were both at zero. I increased bioload and started feeding twice daily (mostly frozen, some flakes) and finally got detectable nitrates and phosphates and dinos went away. Since then, nitrates have been trending up (now up to 42) but phosphates remain low (0.02). I have since turned my skimmer back on...

As long as the display tank is thriving and the fish and especially the corals, who cares if the holding bucket is brown. Reef Crystals is a good salt and unless something changes in its parameters it will continue to be used. I just don't get the issue here ..read more

I bought live rock for my new tank and after 2 weeks I just found this guy. I’m amazed it survived the initial cycle. At first I thought it may have been an Aiptasia, but I can’t find any that look like this. I think it may be some type of mushroom coral that maybe bleached or turned brown during the cycle process. Anyone know what this is?
These are pics I just took with lights off. It’s about 1 1/2 inches in size with a base that extends down into the rock about 2 inches.

I received a Mushroom Grab Bag from Blue Zoo - A little underwhelming to be completely transparent. These 4 tiny things are the first coral I have added to my tank. I have not had coral for 20 years so it's safe to say I am internet educated at this point.
Out of the 4 items I received only two remain. They have survived so far because they were larger than the pea sized items that I received with it. There was a pea sized ones that was very cool but it was so small that it floated into my...

It is a excellent working condition and comes with a brand new pump (never used) and extra volute. One of the best and certainly most quite skimmers I've ever used. I'm asking $250 shipped in its original box. If you have any questions please PM me ..read more

Mixing lighting technologies: Do you use multiple types of lighting for your reef?
For many years there has been discussion about the best type of lighting for reef tanks. Although most reefers currently use LED lights, there are still advocates for metal halide and T5 lighting. In some cases, reef keepers may use multiple types of lighting. What about you – do you use multiple types of lighting for your reef? If so, please let us know about your lighting configuration and help us...
