KOKOMO Three people were injured in Kokomo during an early morning shooting Sunday. Kokomo Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting near Locke and Madison Streets at 4:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers located a 42-year-old man who had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital. According to police, two additional victims, a 32-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, arrived at different hospitals with gunshot injuries from the same incident. KOKOMO Stellantis announced 700 employees will be temporarily laid off at the Kokomo Transmission and Casting Plants, effective Friday. According to Stellantis, the layoffs are a consequence of the strike action at the Toledo Assembly Complex. "These plants have reached maximum inventory levels of the parts or components they supply for the Jeep Wrangler or Jeep Gladiator," the company said in a statement. KOKOMO A Borg Warner facility in Kokomo has plans to close in 2024 and more than 80 employees will feel the impact soon. The Borg-Warner facility in Kokomo, located at 1501 E. 200 North, will close in two phases, according to the company. KOKOMO A baby has been surrendered at a Safe Haven Baby Box in Kokomo. This is the fifth baby to be surrendered this year in Indiana and the 12th in the country. KOKOMO The Kokomo Police Department has had success in recruiting more officers. At the beginning of 2020 the Kokomo Police Department had 76 sworn police officers by the end of July they will have 95.
