Hello thank you for having me. I have severe osteoarthritis in most of my joints. I also require both knees and a hip replacement. However, the consultant says it would be too dangerous for him to operate owing to my emphysema. I do use the gel for pain but it hardly touches it. my hands and fingers are swollen and so painful. I cannot grip or cook very much owing to the safety factor. I really would appreciate any help. Fortunately I have a lovely husband who helps me. I would however like to be more independent. I am 78 years old ..read more

Hi everyone, I'm 31, told I have Seronegative inflammatory arthritis in my knees. The pains and stiffness ive been having in my hands feet and back have been ignored by by rheumatologist. I've had a steroid injection to one knee which has done nothing to help. I've no follow up appointments and no treatment plan. I was told my iron levels are low (even though I take supplements) but the advice was talk to your GP. Feeling really dejected currently, especially when I was told by the consultant rheumatologist that "we'll just have to wait and see..." I am EXHAUSTED all off the time, even after 1 ..read more

Hello, just been diagnosed with osteoarthritis of my si joints. So just wondering if there was anyone else on here with the same diagnosis and what your experience has been like? It seems like it isn't so common to get osteoarthritis in your si joints, at least I haven't seen much written about it ..read more

Ankle replacement

Hello. I am an 80 year old who has experienced osteoarthritis in my hands, knees and ankles for many years. In 2022 I had a successful knee replacement in my right leg, and I was due for a repeat in my left leg this year. However my left ankle has recently become painful when I walk, and I would be unable to do the necessary exercises after a knee operation. It is particularly bad when I stand after resting. Otherwise I am reasonably fit and active. My knee specialist has sent me for an MRI scan with a view to replacing the left ankle. He has informed me that this is a relatively new and quite ..read more

hi all, I’ve had RA for 40 years and I’m about to have my hips replaced, the first one being at the beginning of June. I am really struggling as I’ve had to come off my Tocizilimab infusions for my operation and I’ve now become quite incontinent and I dare not go out anywhere. My legs now just “go to sleep” as I call it and my muscles are shot. I am soooooo embarrassed because I used to be an extremely active person but I’m now virtually house bound. My hubby is amazing and completely understands and helps me with everything but I am just really struggling at the moment and it is seriously str ..read more

I love to ride my bike but after diagnoses of osteoarthritis in my finger bones, wrist and feet I stopped. The bone spurs have stopped my ability to clench my hands very well but I have just got a bike with one click gears and hydraulic brakes which is brilliant but the wrist position is the problem. Anyone got advice about wrist position when riding their bike to alleviate the pain. Thank you ..read more

I have a stiffness/swelling/weakness in my right knee. My GP has diagnosed it as knee osteoarthritis using X-ray. I can feel no bone-on-bone crunching, it's mainly a soreness down the outside of my leg making it difficult and ungainly to walk. My GP gave me some exercises and I have rejoined a gym which seems to help (for a while). My question is; is it only osteoarthritis or could there also be something else? As a non-medical person I would have said it was more like a trapped nerve or sprained tendon type of pain. Has anyone had an ultrasound scan or MRI to confirm the diagnosis? Did it hel ..read more

Good Afternoon, I have RA and several other conditions. Over the past 2 years, I have been developing some unrelated symptoms which seem to be getting worse. I have had Raynard's for many years but my hands have been particularly bad for the past 2 years. They are very red, even when it is warmer, and swollen and sore. The GP has said that it is probably 'only Raynard's' but that other conditions could be involved. I am concerned because I think that I may have Lupus. I have facial flushing most evenings and my face now feels like it is tingling/burning for most of the day. I am extremely sens ..read more
