Router feed direction, which way?
Woodworking Talk

There's a thread here where a new member to woodworking was encouraged to use a router to trim the edge of his table top rather than a circular saw which he didn't have: https://www.woodworkingtalk.com/threads/cutting-a-table-top-edge-with-circular-saw.236025/#replies After two pages of replies I posted about feed direction using a router, and simply said "always feed into the rotation of the cutter". It included no diagrams, no hand signals, which hand to use... Router feed direction, which way ..read more

Plane till glue up

I'm doing a plane till in a similar manner as this without the dovetails. My question is glueing it up and worrying about expansion and contraction. This will be in my garage which is not climate controlled. I understand that wood expand across the grain so when I glue this up I shouldn't be glueing the top to the sides and since I'm going to be inserting the back panel into the sides via dato that I don't want to glue that to the sides... Hi everyone. I've been lurking and learning a lot off and on, decided to go ahead and join up when my wife presented something I can't seem to solve! I'm looking to replace a broken "antique" hinge. (as close as possible. It's been 2 years, we just need it functional at this point) It's a 5 1/4" steeple hinge, but it's made very unusually. It's mortised into the edge of the door. I think it might be called either a paumelle or flag type, steeple hinge. The attached part of the hinge is... Hello! Nice to meet everyone, and... Help ..read more

Understanding Wood Characteristics: Before delving into matching wood to a project, it's essential to have a basic understanding of wood characteristics. Different wood species exhibit varying grain patterns, ranging from straight and uniform to wavy or interlocking. Additionally, woods come in a spectrum of colors, from pale blondes to rich browns and even vibrant reds and purples. Texture also plays a significant role, with some woods boasting smooth, fine surfaces while others exhibit... I am a new wood worker and building a liquor cabinet. I wanted a contemporary look and mitered the sides and bottom of the base and mitered the cabinet doors on the sides and bottom. I now have to pick a hinge that will attach and I am running into issues. Since I mitered the both the base and doors I am losing surface area. What kind of hinge will work? thanks ..read more

Fuji 2 Quart Remote Pressure Pot for For Stage or Better Turbine HVLP Sprayers

I love this four stage (five stage came out after I bought mine) turbine, HVLP sprayer. I've even used it for a couple "hold my IPA" moments (I'll elaborate below). It allows me to avoid dragging around my much heavier portable compressor, and trying to run its' under CFM'd butt to power a conversion gun, which isn't very practical for many jobs. These HVLP's are easy to tote, and the stock [and rather spendy] guns give you a lot of control with minimal overspray (8 PSI vs 45 for a...
