I have a question in mind. Is it possible for a self taught web developer (without any real dev experience) to get a remote dev job? If yes, is it advisable? I would be glad if someone could share their success story. 3 posts - 3 participants Read full topic ..read more

The future of Junior developers after AI revolution

A few years ago I started to learn HTML, CSS and JS but I was forced to brake my learning because I became a victim of a serious crime, a bus driver cut a few of my fingers with a knife, so I needed a long time to healing and rehabilitation. During this time I have no ability to use a keyboard. Plus after that, I got a serious mental illness. But now my fingers and brain are doing well. I forget almost all that I learned a few years ago so I decided to start learning web development again from zero. But, I have a new challenge, and not only me, I think all developers of Entry and Junior levels ..read more

Question about Front End Developer Jobs?

Does anyone know if certain jobs as a front-end junior dev are more difficult than others? I imagine depending on the company you work for, you could do new creative projects that require you to constantly grow and adapt OR you could have a more boring or routine job where you consistently build the same-looking websites, surveys, etc. I’m wondering if it’s advisable to go after the safer jobs for your first job…then once you are comfortable and have experience…then branch off to more challenging opportunities? If so, in the front-end dev world…what are considered the safer options for a first ..read more

Hey everyone! I’m looking to kickstart my career as a frontend developer, but I don’t have any experience or a degree in the field. I’m wondering if anyone has any tips on where I can find job opportunities that are more beginner-friendly? Should I bother applying to jobs on LinkedIn or Indeed that already have over 1,000 applications, or would that be a waste of time? Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

Hi. I am trying to move into web programming after 3 years of C#/VB desktop development. I have taken online courses in HTML, CSS, JS, ES6, REST as well as built some CRUD apps in MVC. At this point it looks like each web discipline is endlessly deep. Is there a practical guideline as to how much JS you need to succeed at an entry level web developer position? Thank you. 2 posts - 2 participants Read full topic ..read more

How do I get a job with FCC (a tough case)?

I’m going through FCC courses. I like them, I got my first two certifications. But I started to doubt whether it (completing FCC courses) makes sense. Even if I finish them all, if truth be told, I don’t see a realistic pathway to any employment. Here’s a list of complications: No work experience. No degree. Huge employment gap. Living in Russia. No funds to relocate, get visas, etc. It appears hopeless. Basically, I need a 100% remote job while not being a resident of any English-speaking country and not having a portfolio. Hell of a long shot, isn’t it? What’s your advice to me? I enjoy co ..read more

Is freeCodeCamp going to make you job-market prepared?

Today, I saw A forum post by @litnomad, here’s what it said: " I just got laid off and now wondering if it is possible to make a transition if I do freecodecamp?". Not all, But some people think that once you finish freeCodeCamp, you will be ready to get hired. But I’m gonna be brutally honest, No It will not. You 99% of the time if not all the time will NOT get a job once you finish the freeCodeCamp curriculum. on the freeCodeCamp page it says something along the lines of “40,000 obtained jobs because of fcc” well something like that. That’s nice but, Was it only FCC or was it FCC and OTHER ..read more
