I know this goes back a few years, but back in the 1980s and 90s, did anyone here read and enjoy any of the books by Elizabeth H. Boyer? Fantasy with a Scandanavian/Viking sort of bent. I read quite a few of hers, and found them entertaining. At the time few of my friends enjoyed her tales as well. Link to her Fantastic Fiction Page: Elizabeth Boyer (maybe you'll recognize some of the covers) Every now and... Elizabeth Boyer books ..read more

Listening to Michael Moorcock's Elric of Melniboné Series

I have a few of these on disk, but the series was never completed, so I was able to get digital copies of the series, recently released. Always fun, a series of tales. This set is arranged in chronological order of Elric's adentures. I've not read them all, so I get some surprises. And recall some tales (or aspects) that I'd enjoyed in the past. If you don't know who Elric is, look into it. He and his soul-stealing sword, Stormbringer, have proven to be classics ..read more

I've been enjoying these a bit. A lot of action, and the writing improves over the series. I think the first novel in the series (Monster Hunter International) was Larrty Correia's first published novel. What I particularly like is that there is a large cast of characters, but that each is distinct and memorable. Part of it is their uniqueness, but also the way he introduces them, and continues to build depth over the series. When they appear in the plot, they slide right in and there's... Hello everyone, just wanted to put in a plug for my good friend, Jordan Stratford, who's written a historical fiction book about a historical Viking Pirate Queen. I think it kind of counts as fantasy, even though the main character is attested to in our history. From the site: When the enemies of King Ragnar destroy Ladda’s village, she’ll do anything it takes to lead the survivors to safety— even agreeing to marry the king himself. But Ragnar and Ladda both quickly discover that... Winter by Winter by Jordan Stratford ..read more
