Hi guys,
Am i correct in stating that depending on the DME used to make a yeast starter, Light, Med or Dark, the final beer colour will be affected for light beers when using med or dark DME. Problem is, I make yeast starters for ALL my beers, and brew shops in SA only sell Medium to Dark DME. This seems to darken my beers and make it near impossible to stick to BJCP guidelines colour wise, when brewing a specific beer. Is there some trick I can use to get past this, maybe use priming...

Hello everyone!
I've done a few home brews, but still very amateur in making my own recipes. I have 2kg of MO and enough hops to do an IPA (15L batch). Have about 20g Magnum, 10g Cascade, 50g Citra and 40g Centennial. I usually use MO + Munich, or Caramel malt... but wanted to try something new this time. I have never used Vienna before, and after reading that many people use it as a base grain quite often, thought I could give it a try. So I was planning to do:
Grain:
2kg MO (EBC 4-6...

I cannot figure out what I did to my profile to make this happen? When I build a recipe, even a new one, it is showing a much higher OG than I can achieve. See photo.
Note the Calculator gives me a better number. My actual with this recipe is 1.050.

Another Newbie question about kegging....I am just assembling equipment to start kegging 5 gallon batches. I was wondering the cheapest way to getting the Co2. Where do most of you get it? Is it best to buy your own tank or rent? 5 or 10 lbs? I live out in the sticks and even have a hard time finding anyone who carries co2. Sorry for the dumb questions but I am sick of bottling ..read more

Hello. I'm a brewer from Colombia. Today I'm searching recommendations about brewing y'all can send me books, papers, magazines to improve my knowledge about brewing. I feel like I'm missing out current info because my knowledge is based on How to brew by Jhon Palmer and its references I know that the last refences are good, but I want current authors and bibliography. Also, I'm a chemical engineer so I already check out all the papers about brew, but I want something out of the laboratory...

Not sure if this is the right place to ask.
Can anyone recommend an approx 25 to 30 ltr recipe to use up my left over Chinook, Amarillo and Cascade hops? I also have some pale malt.
I'm currently fermenting an IPA so could do another batch but am keen to try perhaps a Pale Ale or American Pale.
Is there a way on the site to find a recipe based on what ingredients I have in stock?
Thanks ..read more

Gday Brewers i come to the unfortunate conclusion that I'm giving up Hombrewing Altogether !
WTF you say!
Exactly it come as a shock and surprise to me as well but to put it bluntly as is my way in life I've been Abusing Alcohol alot of late and it's led to my demise at home and socially.
What started out and has continued to be an awesome hobby and creative outlet for my passion for hombrewing, great beer and sharing all there is about it with others has sorta led me down a path of...
