A man has life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Waterbury on Monday. The police department said they responded to the intersection of Cooke Street and Hawley Avenue at 8:30 a.m. Responding officers said a man was taken to the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. A state police cruiser was struck on I-84 East in Waterbury yesterday. Minor injuries were reported and a driver has been issued a misdemeanor summons. State police say the cruiser was parked on the right shoulder of the road near exit 25A. around 5:30 p.m., a car in the middle lane collided with a car in the right lane before crashing into the rear of the police vehicle. Police have arrested a second suspect in the fatal shooting of a man as he left Waterbury Superior Court last month. Deera Nelson, 21, of Meriden, turned herself in on Thursday, according to Waterbury police. Nelson is the second person arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Jarron Chapman as he walked out of Waterbury Superior Court on March 21. Police in Waterbury are investigating a vandalism at a Jewish cemetery where a dozen gravestones were knocked over. Volunteers say workers first discovered the vandalism at the Hebrew Benefit Cemetery on Stillman Road last week. “Some workmen were out here cleaning some headstones. Police arrested a suspect Wednesday in the shooting of a man as he left Waterbury Superior Court last month. Investigators identified 29-year-old Dante Howell, of Meriden, as the suspected shooter, according to police. They obtained an arrest warrant for Howell and arrested him in Middlefield. Police said they responded to the area of Union Street and Silver Street Expressway for a reported pedestrian crash. A woman has died and a man is injured after a crash in Waterbury early Saturday morning. Officers responded to a crash in the 700 block of Frost Road around 5 a.m. Police said a vehicle went off of the road and hit a telephone pole. During the crash, the front passenger was reportedly ejected from the vehicle.
