I visited Fallujah last week, and it was a bit surreal. I filmed my walk through the city, and I saw the people there living in peace. The standard greeting for anyone in Iraq is, of course, "salam alaikum" meaning peace be upon to you, and it was a bit of a trip greeting everyone in that way. However, it is very clear that life has continued here peacefully 20 years after the fact:

Good Morning,
I was curious I spent my entire time in the Marines as an 03, and went over to the Middle East twice, yet I never saw any Marine with an M39. Our snipers used M110 SASS and M40's. The MARSOC fellas I talked to used M110 SASS and M40s as well. Even the "Designated Marksmen" just used M27 IARs. Who the hell uses the M39 EMR in the Corps? A few of my friends, and even some of my Marines went over to STA and never touched it either.
I'm curious, have any other Marines seen it...

Wreckage of WWII plane that vanished found in South Pacific after 80 years
The wreckage of the Douglas SBD Dauntless vanished on Jan. 14, 1944, and was found by locals in the Papua New Guinea jungle last month.

Remains Believed to be WWII Vets Found on Tarawa Return to U.S.
American servicemen remains were flown to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, yesterday, where an honorable carry ceremony took place.
