I have a friend whose father is a Vietman marine combat veteran. He is 76 and was a tunnel rat, I am a aviation Navy vet and had never met a tunnel rat. His son never served, he wants to get his dad something special. I suggested a Marine tunnel rat patch for his jacket. I cannot find anything but Army. I told the son "do not give him an Army patch." Apparently, USMC General Berger hates the Corps more than Harry Truman. Berger is working at reducing the Corps to a local South Pacific constabulary with his FORCE DESIGN 2030 program. No more tanks, reduced artillery tubes, reduced numbers of infantrymen and combat engineers, essentially disbanding the THIRD MARDIV and so on. He seems to be adopting the Wake Island strategy.
