Herr is profoundly deaf, but she is an amazing Vocal Coach for a theatre. She can also play instruments well. She used her other senses and remembered the sounds she heard before going deaf to practice. Herr’s deafness developed from cancer she got at a young age. She created a platform for people to learn how to support children who are deaf.  The motivation came from her daughter, who struggles with cochlear implants. She experiences sicknesses from cochlear implants and gets bullied. Some people do not know what others in the Deaf community go through, and Hopkins is willing to help people understand.
