23-year-old Jeremias Cruz Garcia of Roper Street in Morganton was arrested Tuesday (April 30) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged on a true bill of indictment with felony identity theft along with two misdemeanor counts of possession or manufacture of fraudulent identification. The charges are from warrants dated March 6, 2023. Garcia was taken into custody at his residence shortly after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and brought to the Burke County Jail under a $1,000 secured bond. 32-year-old Joshua Khalil Debrow of Jamestown Road in Morganton was arrested by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony probation violation. Debrow was arrested Monday (April 29) shortly after 2 a.m. at an address on South Sterling Street in Morganton. He received probation and a suspended sentence following a conviction in Burke County in October, 2021 for felony possession of schedule VI controlled substance. 22-year-old Aaron Michael Shockley of Princeton, West Virginia, was arrested by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of first-degree kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Shockley was arrested on April 26 in connection to warrants dated April 16. Following the arrest, Shockley was brought to the Burke County Jail under a $200,000 secured bond. His next District Court date is May 20. 40-year-old Tom Xayavong of Settlemyre Road in Morganton was arrested by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle. On April 27, a Public Safety Officer responded to a lodging establishment on Burkemont Avenue in Morganton to serve a warrant.
