23-year-old Jeremias Cruz Garcia of Roper Street in Morganton was arrested Tuesday (April 30) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged on a true bill of indictment with felony identity theft along with two misdemeanor counts of possession or manufacture of fraudulent identification. The charges are from warrants dated March 6, 2023. Garcia was taken into custody at his residence shortly after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and brought to the Burke County Jail under a $1,000 secured bond. Morganton Man Arrested On Felony Charge

32-year-old Joshua Khalil Debrow of Jamestown Road in Morganton was arrested by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony probation violation. Debrow was arrested Monday (April 29) shortly after 2 a.m. at an address on South Sterling Street in Morganton. He received probation and a suspended sentence following a conviction in Burke County in October, 2021 for felony possession of schedule VI controlled substance. 22-year-old Aaron Michael Shockley of Princeton, West Virginia, was arrested by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of first-degree kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Shockley was arrested on April 26 in connection to warrants dated April 16. Following the arrest, Shockley was brought to the Burke County Jail under a $200,000 secured bond. His next District Court date is May 20. 40-year-old Tom Xayavong of Settlemyre Road in Morganton was arrested by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle. On April 27, a Public Safety Officer responded to a lodging establishment on Burkemont Avenue in Morganton to serve a warrant. Burke County Adult Protective Services initially called, notifying Public Safety that Xayavong had an unserved warrant in a vehicle theft case and he was staying at the establishment. The Mountaineers slugged 12 hits across the two games, which included four extra-base hits, but a pair of multi-run innings from Georgia Southern helped them secure two wins. The Hickory Crawdads lost to the Rome Emperors 8-4 Thursday night on the road. The Crawdads did bash out 10 hits, but nine runners left on base doomed Hickory in the loss. Rome opened the game with two runs in the first inning, but Hickory responded in the top of the second. With one out, Benjamin Blackwell singled and advanced to second on a ground out. 24-year-old Sirena Alexis Everhart of 40th Avenue Lane N.E. in Hickory has been arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers for defrauding a drug or alcohol test. She also faces charges for possession of fentanyl, felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Everhart was jailed today (May 2) in the Catawba County Detention Facility with bond set at $23,000.
