Taping Tyco track
I found 5mm wide, adhesive backed, copper tape at www.hobbytronics.co.uk.
I stripped out the steel rails by gripping and pulling them up with a pair of side cutters.
I cleaned out the rail slots so that there was nothing to catch on the tape when inserted.
I cut a generous length of tape, stripped the backing cover, and holding the copper in gentle tension between thumb and middle finger, fed the tape into the slot with the index finger. It's tricky but you get the knack of it eventually.

My thoughts on Track Design
Designing your track is the most critical part of building a circuit. Improvising as you go along is disastrous. A good circuit is going to need a lot of thought, materials, and construction work. You're only going to have the will and the money to do this once so you had better think hard, prepare well, and get it right first time. Building a working track is not for the faint hearted. There will be lots of unanticipated problems to get round once you get going but when you get it all done you'll feel great. (And then think about doing anot ..read more

I recently bought some replacement tyres for my scalextric jaguar listers [early 60s ] they are softer as the old ones where getting hard but don't seem to have made that much difference to traction is there a hidden trick that I don't know about tyres that makes them grip better as the cars seem to slide about a lot if you give them a little two much throttle ..read more

Hi I bought this car off eBay I was told it run backwards but I found the car runs as soon as you put it on the digital track.
When I hold it on the track the power base will pair with the car/chip/flash green.

can anyone help I have a autoart c type jaguar the motor has a 37mm shaft with a spring halfway down the shaft any idea where I can get a new motor from it looks like a scan motor in my scalextric ferrari 250gt but the end where the shaft comes out and clips into the body is smaller on the autoart jag than the gto thanks mark ..read more
