A subsidiary company of the Katz Group is suing a local agency that provides services to the city's homeless population for breach of contract.    Ice District Corporation, which is a part of Katz Group Real Estate Inc., filed a claim in Edmonton's Court of King's Bench in November, arguing it should be off the hook for a conditional $5-million donation it promised to pay as part of Boyle Street Community Services fundraising efforts for a new location.     The social agency's future home known as King Thunderbird Centre, okimaw peyesew kamik in Cree, and the cos ..read more

-Not a real hot take, I know. -Not going to be a long post because it's so obvious.   A quick look at where the Oiler rank in some analytics: xGoalsFor% - 1 High Danger Chance% - 1 xGoalsFor - 1 xGoals Against - 1 Scoring Chance% - 2 Scoring Chances Against - 2 High Danger Chances Against - 2   -I mention those so that people who don't watch their games can spare me with the lazy "they need a blueline" or "they don't have anybody who can defend" arguments.   Goaltending numbers GA Above Expected - 32 SV% - 31   -Stuart Skinner is struggling badly and, even after started 7 g ..read more

The Edmonton Oilers are firing head coach Jay Woodcroft, the team announced on Sunday.   Edmonton was on a shortlist of Stanley Cup favourites coming into the season but a 3-9-1 record through 13 games has them well back in the Pacific Division standings. And now, it’s cost Woodcroft his job. Assistant coach Dave Manson has also been relieved of his duties.   Hartford Wold Pack head coach Kris Knoblauch will replace Woodcroft as head coach in Edmonton with Paul Coffey as an assistant.    Woodcroft's run as head coach ends after a year-and-a-half run, beginning whe ..read more

I just watched Marty Biron's take on the Edmonton Oilers and he says this is not likely to be fixed overnight.  Having arguably the best two players in the NHL as he said, the rest of them are non existent.  Who saw this coming? Sure, maybe you can kick my Sabres around some, but not this much ..read more

Saved the best for last.....   LAST SEASONS RECORD 50-23-9 109 points, second in Pacific. Beat the Kings in a spirited first round matchup before bowing out in six games to the eventual champion Vegas Knights. plus 65 goal differential best in division, second best in Coference.   ADDITIONS Added Connor Brown who they believe is the next Hyman. I dont see it but who knows. Ekholm brings his steady play to the team for the whole year allowing Bouchard to terrorize opponents on the rush all yeal long. Honestly not a whole lot of new faces.   SUBTRACTIONS Yamamoto and Klostin were ..read more

I’m sure McDavid will get to the finals soon.  How soon is anyone’s guess but I highly doubt the goalies they have now will be the same next year?  Maybe when they get there my Sabres will be the team waiting for them?  They are going to be in the mix soon enough.  For now we must watch Eichel succeed. I knew he would.  Adams is such a jackass.  Nothing will keep the Oilers from being in the mix next year.  But it’s no fun getting knocked out.  I know all too well ..read more

McDavid scores 60th, leads Oilers past Coyotes 4-3 in OT   (AP Photo/John Froschauer) EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) Connor McDavid scored his 60th goal of the season with his second of the game 1:31 into overtime to lift the Edmonton Oilers to a 4-3 victory over the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday night. Moments after hitting the post, McDavid went high on Connor Ingram, giving him 60 goals in 72 games and making him the fastest player to reach the mark since Mario Lemieux accomplished the feat in 62 games in the 1995-96 season. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also had a pair of goals, and Leon Draisaitl ass ..read more
