by royaldicegames [poll=1993702] Ok, limited it to the ones on the list to see how the specific dungeon crawlers (or their series stack up in people's minds) Granted there are a lot more quality dungeon crawlers out there, but curious to see which one out of this group is your fav ..read more

Thread: General Gaming:: Finished reading Ghouls of the Miskatonic (Arkham Horror novel) by Graham McNeill
BoardGameGeek Forum

by Hovercraft McNeill is an accomplished writer for Warhammer already and it’s clear from this book that he cares deeply about the world of Arkham Horror as well. I got a bunch of Arkham Horror books one day on discount. This one comes with an ally card promotion for 2nd edition Arkham Horror that was sadly no longer honoured when I inquired about it. I was kind of blown away by this book. The first in a trilogy. I have the other two as well. I also Sign of Glaaki and Feeders from Within from different authors but they weren’t as good as this one. Those were stand alone novels. I also really ..read more

Thread: General Gaming:: Camera+Tablet For Vision Impaired Players

by Jatedin I have a friend who loves to try and play board games with my group but they are legally blind (in a way glasses cannot correct) and strategic war games have been somewhat off the table for them. They love playing games with us but I feel they are a lot more isolated when we play competitive games as opposed to role playing/story based games. My idea is to mount a camera to the ceiling that streams the game to a tablet my friend can control so they can zoom in wherever they want on the board as they please. I noticed a lot of you-tubers have camera setups like what I need but idk w ..read more

Thread: General Gaming:: what is the ideal time to play a game, for you?
BoardGameGeek Forum
by PainState

by PainState I was looking at the new games release schedule at origins and noticed almost 90% of the games take under 1 hour to play. For me that is way to short of a game to enjoy. Not saying the game is bad, it is not what I desire in a board game. Maybe Iam the strange guy who wanders the BBG con room and cant find a game that will last 3-5 hours. Now, this question I pose is strictly up to how you like to play a game in terms of time. What are your thoughts ..read more

Thread: General Gaming:: The best six-sided die? Is the D3-1 perfect?
BoardGameGeek Forum

by CrimsonChaosGames Hey, game geeks! Want to talk about my favorite hexahedron here, the D3-1, or as most of you probably know it, "that strange die from Betrayal at House on the Hill". Still in search of a better name for it, but as far as die naming conventions go, "D3-1" is still technically accurate, so we'll go with that. What is the D3-1? It's a six-sided die, the "standard" D6, with two blank faces, two faces with one pip, and two faces with two pips. In short, it creates an even distribution of 0, 1, and 2. This is not the same as the die from Small World, which has 3 blanks, 2 ones ..read more

Thread: General Gaming:: Any random gaming facts?

by Townsend_72 Hello, This is not important, but does anyone have any facts about gaming that they want to share? This could be boards games, video games, RPG, TCG, it doesn't really matter as long as it's about gaming. For example, the art for Wingspan was done by only 2 people! I has always assumed it was kind of like parks and had over 50 artists but nope; just 2. Good luck finding facts ..read more

Thread: General Gaming:: Shuffling poorly cut, slightly different sized cards?

by gatchaman Does anyone have any tips for shuffling cards that are slightly different sizes, because they're from different printings of whatever? I'm a riffle shuffler, and like doing that. But it's very hard and very unpleasant when the cards in the deck are different sizes. The best way I've found so far is to spread the cards as much as I can and only shuffle the very corners of the cards, like I think professional dealers do when they shuffle. Normally I would shuffle more on the edges. I'm not going to sleeve them, no sleeves. Any other suggestions ..read more

by professor_zoltan chicken scraps chick·en ˈskraps sometimes -kᵊŋ noun : the act undoing a move made in a game to play a different move instead, especially after the next player has begun their turn. Examples: Brian didn’t like how his turn went in the game, so he used chicken scraps to reverse his move, doing something entirely different with his turn. or: "Today we are playing without chicken scraps. Once you make your move, there's no taking it back." Somehow, at some point during my childhood playing games (mostly Magic: The Gathering), we invented this term: "chicken scraps". I don't kn ..read more
