Avs ink their top defensive prospect, Sean Behrens of recent National Champs (and now most successful program in NCAA hockey HISTORY) Denver University to an ELC. He also signed an ATO with the Colorado Eagles and is currently on their roster. He's already played a regular season game for them but is unlikely to suit up for any playoff games. Someone online described Behrens as "Radko Gudas, except smaller." So I guess we'll see how he pans out in the NHL. Was out of the country for games 1 and 2 so I saw nothing live. Game 1 was surprising, a 7-6 barnburner that left the Jets victorious, followed by a 5-2 Avalanche win in game 2. Georgiev shat the bed in game 1 but roared back with a very good performance in game 2. Strangely, Connor Hellebuyck has been less-than-stellar in both contests, the game-winner for the Avs coming at the hands of Zach Parise on an out-of-net gaffe by the WPG netminder. Well, just going to keep telling myself the 2021-22 Avs shat the bed in the final games of the regular season before their 16-4 run in the playoffs. Two utterly disastrous losses, but strangely disastrous in their own way, in back-to-back games. First one was a complete laugher on Saturday afternoon. 7-0 against the Jets who have had the Avs' number all season. It honestly didn't even look as close as the score would indicate. They have two kids with legit NHL upside in Sean Behrens (D) and Calum Ritchie (C) but beyond that...oof. They list AHL forward Oskar Olausson but he looks like a total bust at this point.
