How to find a DPP as a full-time locum?
Pharmacy Forum UK

Basically....I'm a full time locum - qualified just over a year ago and I'm still getting to grips with booking shifts in to fill my calendar consistently around my area. I live in Bath so it's quite competitive. Unfortunately uni doesn't teach you this XD. Anyway, I bounce between different pharmacies nearly every week, so it's extremely hard to form any form of relationship with local GPs and have any form of continuity. I'm still beating myself over not accepting an overpaid contract for a non managerial pharmacist role with Avicenna 3 months ago, which definitely could've opened up an av ..read more

Has anyone else noticed this? It happened a few years ago when they changed the website, but they brought them back in a fashion, but now seem to have gone again. Possibly too many negative or critical comments for them ..read more

I'm an ACT and have recently started a new job at a branch with a keen interest in PF (they push it a lot!). Anyway, I constantly have meds shoved under my nose for me to check, no Rx or PGD form; just 'sign the label', and it's given out. Not used to PF or community (I come from the hospital). I trust the pharmacist knows best. But this can't be correct. I've asked to check the SOPs, but the manager tells me he's too busy to show me where they are located online. I am going to insist. I just wanted everyone's opinion on the matter ..read more

ACT Vs ACD

You spend 2 years training, then work for a year in a pharmacy before being allowed to apply to do the checking course. It's a few months long, and they you pass. The last 3.5 years have been tough, juggling work, home with studying (as any professional can tell you). But then comes along the average dispenser, fresh off the street, works for a month or two in the dispensary and is able to do the ACD course. She passes and is the final checker before rx go out to patients ..read more

Community Pharmacy: Locum Rate March 2024
Pharmacy Forum UK
by Pharmanaut

Greetings, A bit of a life change going on here in the pharmanaut space capsule.... I'm probably going to start as a free-lance locum from July 2024. I'm not an IP but am validated for NMS, Hypertension, Vaccination and Pharmacy First Services. Can anyone give me some ball park figures for locum rates? Not sure if I would turn out of the house for the £18 per hour that I have heard about. Would probably do something else that paid less with less personal and professional risk ..read more
