Hi guys.
A while ago now a friend took me to a "Satsung" by a local female "guru". The whole experience seemed a bit scammy and self aggrandizing, with the typical self help and positive thinking fluff, as well as a nice Kirtan.
At the end she had whoever wanted to, walk up to the front and kneel down besides her or one of her disciples, who would put one thumb on your third eye area and hold one hand up in the air, and I noticed their eyelids fluttering rappidly.
I'm always open to new experiences, so I gave it a shot and ended up with someone who I later found out was the daughter o ..read more

The 9 day Navratri festival is being celebrated by Hindus around the world from last week onwards, and is from 15-10-23 (Sunday) to 24-10-23 (Tuesday).
The Navratri festival is conducted in reverence of the Mother Goddess Durga. As per Shakta philosophy of Hinduism, all women are manifestations of the Divine Mother and reverence towards them results in auspiciousness and strength.

Dear Dao Bums,
I'd like to share my experiences with ancestor worship, as all as hear your experiences with ancestors.
A hindu holiday called "Pitru Paksha" (Fortnight of Ancestors) just finished, it was 16 days in total from the full moon on the 29th of September and just concluded here on the new moon 14th of October.
In this period I did particular ancestor practices each day consisting of mala japa (mantras recited using a rosary), puja (prayer ritual), tarpanam (water ritual) and havan (fire ritual).
I'll share my experiences in 4 parts:
1) My personal bias against ancestor  ..read more

Eknath Easwaran Translation
"The Inner Ruler"
All this is full. All that is full.
From fullness, fullness comes.
When fullness is taken from fullness,
Fullness still remains.
O M shanti shanti shanti
1. The Lord is enshrined in the hearts of all.
The Lord is the supreme Reality.
Rejoice in him through renunciation.
Covet nothing. All belongs to the Lord.
2. Thus working may you live a hundred years.
Thus alone will you work.
3. Those who deny the Self are born again
Blind to the Self, enveloped in darkness,
Utterly devoid of love for the Lord.
4. The Self is one. Ever still, the ..read more

Both of these men have elicited my deep respect over time with their insights and sharings. To hear them speak together and explore the commonalities inherent in their remarkably different approaches to exploring the nature of reality and human consciousness is a delight to me.
One of my earliest exposures to the incredible crossover of quantum theory in western physics and the long established lineages of eastern esoteric knowledge came via the sharings of Fritjoff Capra's amazing book and his insights revealed in The Tao of Physics, in which he revealed the potent similari ..read more

This came as a bit of a surprise this morning but a welcome one.
Last Friday morning while talking to Sri Mukherjee in India via Skype he informed me his two volume book would be published at the end of the month.
Evidently the person helping him completed the edits early and both volumes were published today on Amazon as both Kindle and Paperback.
I have began reading Volume 1 and so far it is the same as being with him in person. Surprisingly so. If a person reads these books he or she will come away with the personality of the Author amazing how he managed that with help from editors.
