SIVTalk #2. SIVANZ was really excited to be interviewed by the Teng Tools Muscle Car garage crew. The show aired in December and they did a fantastic job of presenting SIVANZ and the potential impacts from government initiatives around climate change initiatives. It’s 5.5 minutes long and worth the watch. Take a look at the snippet on our Facebook page ..read more

Special Interest Vehicle Armageddon?

This opinion piece was penned by SIVANZ Head Honcho Andrew Ferrier-Kerr and had a prominent place in the most recent NZ Hot Rod Magazine (September 2020) The June/ July issues of NZHRM were interesting in their content around the LVV certification process, and the readers’ responses and commentary. In the August issue, there was the quote (p. 7) from a reader about accountability (I’ve piggybacked on that quote later in this opinion piece) and a letter from a former hot rodder about the dearth of hot rodding due to a number of factors. It seems that we have an issue or two to address and if we ..read more

Moving the light vehicle fleet to low emissions: Discussion paper on a Clean Car Standard and Clean Car Discount

Take a look at SIVANZ’s submission to Government. The discussion papers and supporting information total 250 pages so it’s a bit to take in and get to grips with. The online survey the government encouraged people to respond to was, in our view, a series of loaded questions. That said, if you responded to the survey then congratulations; every SIV owner that engaged with the issue is to be applauded. Submission; Size and Scope of the Special Interest Vehicle Fraternity. The Special Interest Vehicle Association of New Zealand (Ltd) (SIVANZ) is the only special interest vehicle organisation in N ..read more

Mike, Jody and I had a ball at the CRC Speedshow on 20-21 July. We met so many really nice car guys and girls. We talked to SIVANZ members and we talked to other automotive organisations about what we’re doing and what synergy may be between SIVANZ and other groups. It’s all very exciting. But right now we need to say thanks to all those people who took the time to stop and talk with us. A lot already knew about SIVANZ which was really encouraging and there was an almost gasp of surprise in some people who “discovered” SIVANZ at the show. Once they found out that we cater for individuals you c ..read more

Motorsport NOW (Network of Women) was started by a group of women, actively involved in Motorsport. The need was identified to highlight how extensive and broad the participation of women is, and to encourage others to also become involved. It’s a community created by women, for women, to create pathways and connections. The team wants to help change the conversation of how women are perceived, away from being unusual, and towards being the regular participants in the sport that they actually are. We aim to break down perceived barriers, provide support, information and education. A key messag ..read more

Great news! We have just sent out the FIRST ever SIV industry survey. The purpose of this survey is two-fold; to gather data about the SIV industry to understand the depth and width of the industry; to have a better understanding of it and its total economic value to NZ. to use that data as a basis for action on how to best represent the group in the future. We are looking forward to the responses! Ask the SIV businesses you deal with if they have received the survey. If they haven’t let us know. Drop us a line at contact@sivanz.co.nz ..read more

Letter to the Editor – The Future and EVs
Special Interest Vehicle Association of New Zealand (SIVANZ)

SIVANZ likes to stay on top of current trends in the industry and at the moment a hot topic is EVs. The letter below is from SIVANZ head honcho and is in response to the Editorial in the February issue of NZV8.  It has been printed in the March edition of NZV8. Another good editorial in last month’s issue of NZV8 [Issue No.164] The Future is Near Here A couple of points from my perspective. Commentary around EVs [electric vehicles] is healthy; they are here and growing in numbers on our roads. And they will be a useful tool in emissions reductions. But, they are only one so ..read more
