Dallas is in a must win situation now. Don't want to go to Vegas down 0-2 after losing home ice. McDavid with 5 assists in one game. Avalanche scored 12 goals in 2 games against the team that gave up the fewest regular season goals. Turned off the Isle/Cane game after it went 3-0. Big mistake. I just can't see Toronto or the Rangers winning the cup this year. Something is missing with both squads. Tomorrow night is a 2 TV 2 tablet kind of night. And a healthy amount of bourbon.. Canucks are not thrilled they need to now rely on Casey DeSmith. Rangers look great and that comeback by the Canes was so entertaining. Tough to say who I’m rooting for at this point. I’m really just going all in on wanting a Canadian team to win, so mark me down for VAN, TOR or EDM. I think if TOR makes it past BOS they have a legit chance. Had to have somewhere to talk about the dang goaltending in the Florida v Tampa Bay game. Total shame one of those guys had to lose. Bobrowsky made the save of the year with a backward flying angel. Also, how can anyone who sees the NHL's #1 PP feed Stamkos over and over for one-timers not think the Penguins would be served perfectly well by doing the same thing with Malkin on the opposite side? Opponents know it's coming but they can't stop it. Playoffs have been outstanding, overall. Made me feel better about the Pens not making it. It’d have likely been smoked by just about any team pla ..read more

The (undeniably really fun) ride at the end of the season could be used as an excuse to rearrange the deck chairs before bringing pretty much the same group back, in as much as they're able. I'm ambivalent at this point. Getting the rebuild started has to happen at some point, but I've definitely got some serious post-partem Roethlisberger blues that tell me that maybe this nostalgia tour isn't all bad... Might as well have a place to post/discuss the happenings now that golf season is underway. The first news is the retirement of BFJC. Had a great career. Hell of a player. Hex did this team a bad by extending him but that is water under the bridge. Carter said is going to be a 'dad' for the foreseeable future but I suspect he will get a job with the Pens when he is ready to return to work. His family decided to move permanently to Pittsburgh this past Summer. All the Islanders greeted Carter at the end of the game to shake his hand. I guess it had leaked prior. The Islanders also did a tribu ..read more

What really killed them was how poorly they’ve played 3 on 3 OT. 18 games went to OT and only 6 of them did they collect 2 points. IDK, starting 3 on 3 OT without either of your two best players on the ice seems like a good strategy. Lars Eller to start OTs and them moving away from feeding Malkin's one timer on the PP cost them how many games do you think? 2-3? More? Against Toronto Matthews/Marner/ McCabe So Sully trots out DOC/65/ and Eller in OT Brilliant Statistics: Posted by fractalsteel — Wed Apr 17, 2024 6:10 pm ..read more

The season was a pretty big disappointment. However I would be lying if I said was surprised. Once it became evident that Sully was staying and they resigned Jarry, which I still question why, I did not have a good feeling that this season was going to turn out well. I did expect the Pens to at least make the playoffs if Sid Geno and LeTang stayed relatively healthy. They were all healthy as was Karlsson and they still failed. The power play was below AHL level with all of their big name star players healthy ( though acknowledging Rust and Guetzel missed some time). I am not sure why they a ..read more
