Hello, I am encountering a strange behavior on my brand new Yngwie Malmsteen signature strat when I plug it into Fender Malmsteen Overdrive pedal (DOD250 clone) and Marshall SV20 amp and I need your advice. When I turn on the overdrive I hear a distinct and strong buzz apart from the usual noise (the strat has stacked humbuckers in it, so it is not just the regular single coil hum). See this recording where I turn on the guitar volume and switch from neck to bridge and back . What is... Read more ..read more

Recently I noticed the lanch of the Antigua burst Vintera Stratocaster. Nice but expensive. Now Squier has launched a whole bunch of Antigua burst guitars (and bass). I like the Strat, but that Tele is nice too …. Hard to choose, gotta love a puke burst. So ugly that they become pretty ..read more

Pleased ta meet ya. Fifty-something goober who started playing again a couple years ago after twenty years of not playing. I've always loved Strats, pretty much only ever loved Strats, and have only ever had Strats. It's not a problem, I'm still able to live a normal life. Ever since the Woodstock film I have wanted a white Strat with a maple fretboard, but the Strats I had back in the day were always the wrong colour. But in 2021, when I got the hankering to play, I decided I wouldn't... Read more ..read more

Any Klein Jazzy Cats owners?

Just installed these on the neck and middle. I was instantly taken aback by how little gain there was. They barely push my amps. My ac30 c2 normal channel produced very little breakup even on 10. Its to the point where I am wondering if I somehow damaged the volume pot with too much heat. But it doesn't sound wrong per say, and the tone doesn't scream 'wiring error'. Just a LOT less gain than ALL my strats. The sound is extremely clear, spanky, lotsa dynamics and sparkle. Still hass bass... Read more ..read more

Anyone else have a bone stock original Squire '51?

Back around 2009, this was one of the last ones left in Orange County California,. I bought it for $79, stuck it in a gig bag and didn't do anything to it. Most of the original Squire '51s were modded, and I doubt if there's many left in bone stock condition, like this one. I hadn't pulled it out in many years, and I'm really appreciating again how wonderful this guitar is. The necks on these are SO nice! The pickups are also very acoustic, and the humbucker is excellent. These have no tone... Read more ..read more

Hardtail strat options

I love hardtail strats. I don't use the whammy much, and I'll take the tuning stability over anything. Then I discovered this: Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster H HT - Black, Sweetwater Exclusive Solidbody Electric Guitar with Poplar Body, Maple Neck, Indian Laurel Fingerboard, Hardtail Bridge, and 1 Humbucking Pickup - Black www.sweetwater.com This is sweet!!! (pun intended) This guitar will look like a TD signature no problem, and it has through-body HT (unlike its Sonoc sibling), for very reasonable price. I gotta try this guitar. Someone please discourage me... So currently... R ..read more
