The key was two goals in three minutes shortly after Vancouver had equalized. However in the end, the Timbers fell short when Ryan Raposo scored his second goal of the season in the 87th minute. After a hard-fought match from both sides, Charlotte FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps drew 1-1. Charlotte had a handful of opportunities to score early on with Jere Uronen not getting enough power on a shot that was saved, Iuri Tavares heading the ball following a corner that was saved and Enzo Copetti being awarded a penalty that was overturned following a VAR review. After winning the season opener at home 1-0 against New York City FC, Charlotte FC begins a road trip with a match against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, March 2. Charlotte is coming off a strong defensive performance where they were able to keep a clean sheet against NYCFC despite not being able to control possession and allowing more shots than the attack had.
