Afternoon All, I'm looking to install an Intergas system boiler with a Mixergy twin coil cylinder coupled to a solar thermal system and would appreciate any guidance from anyone who has successfully wired one up in X-Plan or Priority Domestic Hot Water configuration. For context I've chosen Mixergy & Intergas as Intergas works well with our existing Evohome controls via OpenTherm. I'm keen on a Mixergy cylinder which will allow the following: Early morning - only a portion of the cylinder... Read more ..read more

I have a shiny cold so just watching TV Can't do terrestrial day time programing. But watched a couple of BBC comedies. Mammoth Started really good . Great ideal for a comedy, typically BBC "Look how cool and Un-PC we are" Funny bits but gradually got worse. The BBC only seem to have Middle class ****ts that write their comedy. They can't get working class comedy right from sitting round a dining table with other BBC ****ts. I watched all the episodes of Mammoth... Read more ..read more

We are just in the process of renovating an old outbuilding, which is going to involve a floating stud wall covering all the walls. Is there a best practice for securing the twin and earth into the safe zone? Id prefer to secure it to the brick before the stud wall goes up, but 2.5mm cable clips dont seem to come in a screw variety (just nail). Cheers guys ..read more

Hi there, I was wondering if someone could help me. I have spoke with a couple of electricians and UK Power Network and slightly confused. I have bought a shop that has a maisonette above. The idea is to split the Maisonette above to 2 x 1bed flats. One will be powered on electric (water powered via direct unvented cylinder) and the other will be GCH. I will also need a landlords supply for the communal hall way, to get a fire alarm system and Automatic Open Vent installed - along with... Read more ..read more

Hey, apologies in advance for the long winded essay. I have previously posted a quested but I don’t think I explained everything clear enough. so I’ve got a 2019 Mercedes A200d premium. In January it broke down when I was sitting in it to warm up due to it being a frosty morning. I was sat in the car for all of 3-5 minutes when the car interior started to fill with smoke. Knowing that’s not right I switched the car off and got out, when I noticed the smoke coming from the engine bay... Read more ..read more

Unvented cylinder leak. Experts only - is anything wrong? (Ed.)

Long story short I've had issues with the hot water tank leaking either from the tundish, from the fittings or now from the element. It's 8 years old, both the prv and t&p have been replaced, expansion vessel tested and repressurised but the problems won't go away. After both hot and cold water leaking through the tundish I had both valves replaced. I noticed a leak from the controls unit and my only guess is steam is passing at the element. Have I just been really unlucky or is there... Read more ..read more

Core Holes in a wall - How Close Is Too Close? (Ed.)

Hello. I have had a new cooker hood installed. It requires a 6" duct but has been installed with a 4" ducting reducer. Also, the external wall hole is approximately 10cm above the hood, but the installation guide recommends at least 60cm vertical run before being vented outside, which in my case is 90 degrees to the hood. I want to drill a 6" hole above the existing 4" hole. Questions are i) how much clearance do I need between the two holes so that I don't compromise the strength of the... Read more ..read more

The is a downstairs cellar, the wall at the back is an external wall and on the right is internal wall. I know the right hand side has a water mark implying it's rising damp. But this is a internal wall. The other side of the wall is another cellar. The flooring on the other side is old terracotta tile floor. I took the skirting off and the back of the skirting on all sides was bone dry. The plaster was touching the ground on all sides and I have hacked off a few inches now. Any input...
