The Portland Timbers will be in the market for a new play-maker, as today the club announced that its utmost contributor and top play maker on the field will be departing the Rose City side this winter after playing for seven seasons, after announcing it on his Instagram account on Thursday. The Portland Timbers announced its roster moves on Thursday ahead of the 2024 season and not exercising contracts on a few players not returning to the team for the net season. So far, the Timbers have picked up contract options on Nathan Fogaça and declined contract options on Bryan Acosta, Franck Boli, Noel Caliskan, Diego Gutierrez, Eric Miller, Jaroslaw Niezgoda and Justin Rasmussen. After a number of rumors, it has been confirmed that Phil Neville will become the Portland Timbers’ new manager for the 2024 season, the club announced today. For Neville, he will have a multiyear contract until the 2026 season. Neville holds a UEFA Pro License, becoming the fourth manager in the Timbers franchise since their inception to MLS.
