The non-CDB architecture was deprecated in Oracle Database 12c (12.10.2). It is desupported in Oracle Database 20c. Oracle Database 20c was the first CDB-PDB release. Now there is no Oracle Database 20c. Hence, Oracle 21c will be now the first CDB-PDB only release. Oracle Database 21c is the first Oracle database release with CDB-PDB only architecture. You can’t have a non-CDB in Oracle 21c anymore. Oracle Universal Installer can no longer be used to create non-CDB Oracle Database instances in Oracle 21c. When we Grant the Select privilege on a V$ view we will get an ora-02030 error. As ORA-02030 says, that we can only select from fixed tables/views, which means V$INSTANCE is not a table or view. It should be V_$INSTANCE. Because we can grant directly t ..read more

The Oracle wait event model was originally introduced in Oracle7. Wait event information is gathered by the Oracle MMON background process, stored in intermediate x$ structures in a circular SGA buffer, and later transferred to Oracle10g dba_hist tables. Oracle 10g introduced the Active Session History (ASH) as part of the Diagnostics and Tuning Pack.  The new Automated Session History (ASH) tables revolutionized Oracle wait event tuning.  ASH gathers sampled data at the session level rather than at the instance level.  The ASH, AWR, and ADDM are separate componen ..read more
