Kerry is a beautiful part of Ireland with sweeping panoramic views. No wonder it is one of the top staycation locations in Ireland. Luckily, there is no shortage of great places to stay in Kerry. When cycling the Ring of Kerry, we alternated between wild camping and B&B’s to maximise comfort as it rained throughout the trip. We made that decision the day our tent got saturated and we couldn’t face sleeping in a wet tent in damp clothes while it was lashing rain outside! No judging please! I won’t give too much away about our wild camping spots, however, as part of the beauty of wild campin ..read more

Thinking of upping the miles and looking for a few tips, tricks and ‘Must Have’ accessories? Well you’re in the right place. Here are a few of my personal Running Essentials. I started running about seven years ago now. To cut a long story short I came back from an epic year travelling and moved house to a completely new location in Dublin. I have always loved living, working and working out in Dublin, but this time I wanted more; this time I wanted a sense of community. The “Sloggers to Joggers” running group in Swords not only provided me with the opportunity and ability to reach 5km and sub ..read more

Well-DOING for Well-BEING.

As human beings it is good, if not necessary, for us to take time to sit back, chill out and simply BE. However, I’ve come to realise that when it comes to our mental and physical health that ‘Well-being’ is generally not something that just happens, like ageing or sudden ‘Lockdown’ in 2020! Sometimes Well-being involves a degree of Well-DOING. I often ask myself why we, as adults, have such a drive to busy ourselves. We work ourselves to the bone, party until we drop, give all our energy to linking in with and looking after our family members and we become engrossed and obsessed with the ..read more

This had detrimental consequences for his state of mind and all the relationships in his life. He couldn’t reason or function on a daily basis, and no one could bear to be around him because he became so grumpy and moody!  Even his wife, his ..read more

Who doesn’t love Fridays?! Friday nights have always been my favourite night to socialise, probably because everyone is generally in a happy, relaxed mood in anticipation of what the weekend will bring. Recently, like most others, my Friday nights out have turned into Friday nights in. This means lots of movies! Myself and my partner embraced a trashy Friday movies theme, indulging in 80’s, 90’s and 00’s picks. But, why do trashy movies appeal to us? Sarkhosh and Menninghaus found that the seemingly derogatory term ‘trashy’ has now taken on a positive meaning, and that often people indulge in ..read more

Top Cycle Picks This year, ‘staycationing’ has become the new way to holiday. We’re blessed in Ireland to have wonderful places to visit for the weekend or day trips. Recently we went to Kerry – here is our 5-day staycation itinerary for cycling the Ring of Kerry.
