Malik Monk knows this offseason is going to be complex. As his free agency looms, he admitted Monday in a session with media that he knows even if more money may be available to him from another team, it might not be a better situation than he has in Sacramento.
“It’s big because I can go somewhere else with a lot more money and be in a worse situation. So, you never know,” said Monk. “I have a great agent that’s going to do his job. I think my job is done. I did what I needed to do this year, and it’s going to play out. I think it’s going to play out in the right way.”

It’s been a busy day around the Sacramento Kings. Let’s round it all up.
The Brooklyn Nets officially announce Jordi Fernandez as their new coach
While this news was reported last week, the Nets made their official announcement today.
“I am truly grateful to lead the Nets as head coach and cannot thank Joe, Clara and Sean enough for this exciting and humbling opportunity,” said Fernández. “My family and I are thrilled to join such an incredible organization and become part of the vibrant Brooklyn community. I am eager to get to work with this talented group of players and collectively drive o ..read more

One of the hardest parts of the Play-In Tournament is the suddenness of it all. That’s also the appeal, and I’m certainly not advocating for any changes to the play-in structure, but being eliminated in a single game situation just hits a little different than losing in a first round series, even in a series that went 7 games leading to the same sort of sudden death environment. I’m still going over all the way things could have gone differently, and yet it’s hard to imagine any different outcome. As long as the Pelicans showed up for the game, they were going to win. They were Sacramento’s kr ..read more

The Sacramento Kings entered this game feeling good after overcoming the Golden State Warriors. Unfortunately for the Kings, they have a new nemesis to overcome in the New Orleans Pelicans. The Kings entered this game having lost all five matchups against the Pelicans, and this game followed the same script. The Kings were flummoxed by New Orleans’ length, couldn’t hit open shots, and were outplayed by the Pelicans throughout. Every time the Kings would close the gap, New Orleans responded. The Pelicans held on to the end, defeating the Kings 105-98

Kings fans are riding high after Tuesday’s Play-In victory against the Golden State Warriors. Sacramento not only won that must-win game against a hated rival, they did so in dominant fashion. With that victory, the Kings earned one final shot at making the playoffs, with the winner of tonight’s game moving on to face Oklahoma City in the first round. But in order to do so, they’ll have to topple a team that has beaten them five times this season in the New Orleans Pelicans. Zion Williamson-less or not, this is going to be a tough battle.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson has been ruled out for Friday’s play-in game against the Sacramento Kings. Zion had to leave Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers after straining his hamstring.

SACRAMENTO – It certainly didn’t matter to the fans in and around Golden1 Center Tuesday night that the game between the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors was technically a disappointment for both organizations.
Sure, neither team expected to be in a 9/10, single elimination play-in game a month ago, let alone back in October when the season first tipped off. But as Mike Brown said after Sunday’s regular season finale, “any time you can play after your last regular season game, it’s a positive.”
The sellout crowd was certainly enthused during introductions, even as a scattering of ..read more

The Sacramento Kings will host the Golden State Warriors tonight in win-or-go-home game as the Play-In Tournament kicks off. This, of course, is a rematch of sorts of the first-round series last season that ended with the Warriors winning in Sacramento in a Game 7. Given the connection between Mike Brown and Steve Kerr, and the history of last season, these teams know each other well.
On Monday, both coaches shared thoughts with media that gives a little glimpse into how they are approaching the matchup.
