It kind of started out as a form of entertainment, like when someone watches tv or a movie. I also prefer certain genre’s when it comes to my reading material…..if it’s not going to hold my attention then I’ll set it aside and never pick it up again. Another reason I read is because it has become a stress reliever for me. When I sit down to read for a few minutes at the end of the day, it allows me to forget about the stress I’ve went through over the course of the day and focus on something completely different. If I can get engulfed in the story enough to forget about what happened during th ..read more

I made another visit to my local book store and you’ll be able to see what I purchased below. I’ve come to realize this year that reading books and purchasing books are two completely different hobbies of mine. With as many books that I have in my collection at the moment, I’m surprised that people aren’t stopping by my house thinking that another branch has opened up that’s apart of the city library ..read more

Okay, I got three new books recently. Actually, I purchased two from my local book store and I purchased the third online as they didn’t have it in store. The first book (seen below) is the one I ordered online and the other two I purchased in store. I have all my books alphabetized by author (with the exception of my Harry Potter books……my Harry Potter books are on a small bookcase by themselves). With the three books I purchased today, I will now have at least one book for each letter of the alphabet……or actually the author’s last name starts with each letter of the alphabet. I realized last ..read more

I just finished reading this and thought I’d share. I hadn’t read anything from this author before so I wasn’t sure what to expect going in. But when I read the synopsis for this book while I was at the bookstore, I just knew I had to have this book. This book flips back and forth between a nurse taking care of a child back in 1903 and two teen boys living in a boarding school in 1993. It involves the same building, just 90 years apart. The building was an asylum in 1903 when Nurse Emma Everdeen takes care of a small child. The building becomes a boarding school by the time 1993 roles around w ..read more

I’ve comprised a list of the 10 best books from the fiction genre (these books are works of fiction but they may not be classified as part of the other genre’s I’ve done so far). This list is in no particular order and this list is only my opinions based on what books I’ve read in the past. Enjoy! A historical fiction from WWII follows Grace as she goes to work at a book store in order to gain some working experience. She soon learns the power of story telling and how it can bring a community together during a time of need. This children’s fantasy book would be good to read to your kids(s ..read more

I finished reading this last night before going to bed. This book was recommended to me by another blogger a few years ago and I finally got around to reading it. It’s not normally the kind of book I normally read but I took a chance reading it because I trusted the person who recommended it to me. The book follows a boy named Santiago who is ambitious enough to go travel so he starts off by traveling with his sheep. However, he learns that his personal quest in life is to find a treasure and goes off in search of it. He learns a lot of valuable lessons while in pursuit of his “treasure”. Plus ..read more
