The college football transfer portal is wide open and Florida football is doing its due diligence with those available through the de facto amateur free agency system. The Gators have already brought in a handful of players to replace those who have departed but there is still room for more. One of Billy Napier and Co.’s transfer targets is wide receiver Justus Ross-Simmons, who played for the Colorado State Rams prior. The former three-star recruit in the 2022 cycle entered the portal on April 16 and has now set an official visit with the Orange and Blue. According to Swamp247, Ross-Simmons w ..read more

Florida has been trending up for Gadsden County (Havana, Florida) defensive lineman Jeramiah McCloud in recent months, and he’s now officially on flip watch after backing off his commitment to Mississippi State University. McCloud pledged his services to the Bulldogs back in January, but several trips to the Swamp seem to have him leaning toward staying in state. Florida isn’t the only team in pursuit of the flip. He has an official visit planned to USC on June 7, a week after returning to Florida. His most recent trip to the Swamp came on Wednesday. The Gators’ recruiting staff has done well ..read more

Florida baseball returns home on Tuesday to host the Stetson Hatters for a midweek single-game matchup at Condron Family Ballpark. The Gators are coming off a series loss at the Vanderbilt Commodores last weekend but did manage to win the final game of the series to earn some momentum heading back to Gainesville. The Hatters beat the Gators earlier this season on Feb. 27, 7-4, in Deland in the midst of the team’s midweek struggles that was the early barometer of what was to come this spring. Kevin O’Sullivan’s squad will be looking for revenge as well as keeping their heads above the .500 mar ..read more

Florida dropped the first game of a home-and-home series, 7-4, with Stetson earlier in the year in DeLand, so the Gators are looking to even things up on Tuesday with a midweek tilt in Gainesville. The Gators are coming off a disappointing three-game series in Nashville against Vanderbilt that saw Florida lose two games before ending things on Saturday with a win. Kevin O’Sullivan is giving former Friday night starter Cade Fisher a chance to earn some favor after a short outing on Saturday. Fisher took a ball off his arm, so his getting the start so quickly is an encouraging sign that he’ll r ..read more

Billy Napier and Co. have been eyeing the college football transfer portal this spring as they look to reload the roster ahead of the 2024 campaign. Having lost a handful of players to graduation, the portal as well as the NFL draft, there is still room to add more. Florida football continues its preparation for the 2024 season as Billy Napier and Co. seek the program’s first winning season since 2020, much less the third-year skipper’s supra-.500 finish of his Gainesville tenure. Some of those efforts have been focused on the recruiting front. While the latest news probably will not make a huge difference in this fall’s depth charts, the Orange and Blue added three-star offensive tackle Enoch Wangoy out of Jacksonville (Fla.) Zarephath Academy to its 2024 recruiting class. Former a member of the 2025 cycle, the 6-foot-7-inch, 314-pound lineman reclassif ..read more

Gators nowhere to be seen in D1Baseball's latest rankings

It has been a precipitous fall for the Florida football season, going from the runner-up in the College World Series last year to a mediocre team that has barely kept afloat at the .500 mark with a few weeks remaining in the spring campaign. The Gators fell out of D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings last week and remained outside the top tier of the sport in the Week 10 update. Kevin O’Sullivan’s team earned revenge for an earlier loss against the Jacksonville Dolphins in blowout fashion but then dropped two of three at the Vanderbilt Commodores for yet another Southeastern Conference series loss. Florida football brought Wisconsin Badgers transfer quarterback Graham Mertz to Gainesville for the 2023 campaign after losing its star signal-caller, Anthony Richardson, to the NFL draft. The decision was a solid one for the redshirt junior as he was among the nation’s best in pass completion percentage, though he did leave a lot to be desired on downfield plays. Mertz’s season ended abruptly against the Missouri Tigers with a broken collarbone that shelved him for the following game against the Florida State Seminoles. Still, he managed to complete 261 of his 358 pass attempts (72.9%), tossi ..read more
