The San Francisco Giants, all of baseball, and truly the world at large lost a legend on Tuesday. Willie Mays, perhaps the greatest baseball player who ever lived, passed away peacefully at the age of 93. Mays was beloved from coast to coast and from generation to generation. His death came just two days before he was set to be honored in a game played by the Giants at Rickwood Field, where Mays' pro career began at the age of 16. Mays is gone but his legacy will truly be felt forever.  Meanwhile, the SF Giants had baseball still to play, and unfortunately they lost the last two games of ..read more

SF Giants Win Thriller Behind Thairo Estrada's Dramatic 9th-Inning HR
Locked On Giants - Daily Podcast
by Locked on Podcast Network

In perhaps the San Francisco Giants' most dramatic win of the season, Thairo Estrada blasted a go-ahead, three-run home run in the ninth inning with the Giants down by two runs. The SF Giants and Cubs exchanged blows late in the game, but the Giants ultimately prevailed thanks to Estrada's blast.  The Giants also exhibited strong defense (and more offensive pyrotechnics) earlier in the game. Michael Conforto and Mike Yastrzemski had big outfield assists, and Heliot Ramos and Patrick Bailey hit homers. The Giants needed all the offense they could muster on a night when the home plate umpir ..read more

The San Francisco Giants out-homered the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field today in a 7-6 win. Three different San Francisco Giants smashed home runs, but it was Thairo Estrada who had the biggest blast of them all with a three-run jack in the top of the ninth inning which gave the San Francisco Giants a one run lead. Jordan Hicks tossed five scoreless innings in the start and Camilo Doval showed us all that he's just fine on the bump after a disastrous outing in his prior appearance.   Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! SF Giants' Heliot Ramos Having Legitimate Breakout Season
Locked On Giants - Daily Podcast

It's quickly becoming by far the best story of the 2024 season for the San Francisco Giants. Heliot Ramos, drafted out of high school as a teenager, is finally breaking out at the major-league level before our very eyes. Ramos, given a chance to play everyday due to injuries in the outfield, has been on a tear for over a month and it's getting harder and harder to ignore the legitimacy of the SF Giants outfielder's breakout. Despite Ramos' breakout, the Giants lost two of three to the inferior Angels, largely due to poor situational hitting in the middle game of the series. Another negative fo ..read more

Locked On Giants - Daily Podcast

The San Francisco Giants continued to struggle offensively with runners in scoring position as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim won again today, 4-3. Heliot Ramos did everything he could, including launch a two-run homer and an RBI double, but the rest of the San Francisco Giants offense was putrid. Just 1-13 with runners in scoring position and stranded 8 runners on base. Keaton Winn finally had a nice outing again, but the San Francisco Giants couldn't capitalize. Inbox: Has SF Giants' Offense Been Bad, Good, Or In Between?
Locked On Giants - Daily Podcast
by Locked on Podcast Network

There seems to be a commonly held belief that the San Francisco Giants' offense has been bad so far in 2024. But is it really true? The Giants boast an above-average wRC+, and they're above average in batting average and on-base percentage. Their power has been subpar, and their hitting with runners in "scoring position" has been bottom five in the league, but numbers like wRC+ are more indicative of talent and predictive of future performance. The Giants are a tick below average in runs scored per game. At worst, they're mediocre, not bad. Among the other questions asked and answered on today ..read more

If the San Francisco Giants could acquire Bo Bichette in exchange for Marco Luciano and Carson Whisenhunt, should they do it? That mailbag question and many others are discussed on today's edition of the Locked On Giants podcast, including: What do you think about Heliot Ramos’ hot streak, specifically how likely it is he maintains his strong plate presence? How will his role change in a seasons time when our roster is back to healthy? Trade possibilities? If Brett Wisely is still hitting like he is, and making the routine plays at SS, when Nick Ahmed is ready to come back, do you think they s ..read more
