Servicios Adventuras and Fiocchi small pistol primers

I recently tried both of these in 9mm. About 150 rds. each, fps range on my chrono 1050 - 1200, 115 and 124 gr jacketed bullets. The SA seem hotter, consistently 20ish fps faster than Fiocchi. Good consistent velocity for each. Both loaded and seated with no problems in an old Dillon RL450. I had about 3% failure to ignite with the SA (5 rds in all, fired fine on second strike), no failures with Fiocchi. Guns were Glock 19 and Sig P365XL. Both were clean & in good condition and have... Gun safe: How dry is too dry?

It’s pretty dry where I live in the Southwest USA. I have a combo humidity/temp gauge inside my safe so I have a fairly accurate idea of those numbers. Is there an ideal temperature range and/or humidity % level for the inside of a gun safe? Hoping for some input from the experts here ..read more

Anyone Regrind/Refurbish Old Knives?

I have some old kitchen knives I think about refurbishing by regrinding them for better cutting and/or replacing old handles. They’re cheap but I don’t see the need to throw them out when a little thinning and polishing will make them cut like new. Am I the only one ..read more

Ruger Max 9 Issue-Gun or Ammo?
The High Road

So PSA had the Ruger Max 9 with a miniature range bag for $279.99 (the pistol was $299.99 without the bag) in their Memorial Day sale. I have been wanting a double stack micro 9 so I bought. PSA did fine on shipping, etc. I picked the gun up last Thursday & cleaned & lubed it. Took it out Sunday evening. I had one stovepipe about the third magazine. I thought I might be limpwristing as I was shooting weak hand only. a few magazines later the slide locked back with a couple of rounds left in... Ruger Max 9 Issue-Gun or Ammo ..read more

Do you mark your rings to keep the orientation as they came from the factory? I’ve read that with modern machining techniques the ring assemblies are made better than years ago. Doesn’t matter to me though. View attachment 1155494 ..read more

New York is proposing assault weapon ammo ban.

Watched a news clip talking about NYs latest efforts. Apparently it's not an outright ban but a 20 round a month limit and penalty for breaking a class E felony. So even those that own bolt action guns like a CZ 600 in 7.62x39 get caught up ..read more

Melting polymer coated bullets?
The High Road

American Reloading has a lot of heavily damaged 9mm polymer coated bullets. Evidently the pulling machinery was not adjusted correctly that day, but I digress. Buying them in a lot of 4000 projectiles (with the discount) results in lead which would cost ~ 1.64/lb, which is a good price for my area. Link for the curious folks: https://americanreloading.com/9mm-38-super-357sig-355-356/3313-9mm-red-coated-lead-mix-1000ct.html My question is, could they be melted down and re-cast as... Knocked a can of almonds off my desk while working at home this evening. Noticed a clear plastic storage container next to the speaker, behind where the can of nuts was sitting. It’s got 15 .32Mag Starline brass in it. I don’t recall leaving it there, there’s no note or scribbling on it or in. They’re dirty and need to be decapped. Ball’s rolling. Give us your latest (less than a month old), “Now why did I do that ..read more
