Get it all Done

Instead of trying to ‘do it all,’ focus on how you can get it all done. I admit I have used the phrase a time or two. “Doing it all” is the desire we all want, isn’t it? But is it really what is most effective? We often can get caught up in the idea that we need to do it all in order to be a good mom, wife, or business owner. Yet, even the Proverbs woman had helpers! What is the overarching goal? We want the tasks to be completed so we can show up in all our roles in integrity. When we think about it from this perspective, we can recognize that seeking ways to offload some of our tasks allows ..read more

Anna De Salvo

How do we create plans to support what’s going on around us so we can include self-care, our personal lives, and work? This is the magic of clearing our plates.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Our lives go in seasons. Not necessarily the ones that exist outside, although they impact us, the ones that exist within our own rhythms. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ As we enter a new season, with new activities, we can reexamine our priorities. What is important?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ When we take time to reprioritize, clear our plates, and then only keep the most important tasks – this is where we find our spaciousness even in a busy season.⠀This ..read more

How to Achieve your Goals
Anna De Salvo

You probably won’t hear this advice often about how to achieve your goals. When we find ourselves saying, “I know what to do, but I just need to do it,” it may be a signal to reassess the goal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Often the goals we make are created when we are fed up with our current circumstances. So they are big, bold, and exciting! However, if we don’t change our behaviors, even if we manage to reach the outcome, we likely will end up falling back into old habits. Many will insist that we need to be more motivated, or push ourselves harder. However, my thought is that we gain much more long-term growth ..read more

Delegation is a Process: How to Offload the Overload
Anna De Salvo

Delegation is a process. What if getting the help you need didn’t cost anything? The primary reason we don’t seek help when we are overloaded is we don’t want to spend the time or the money. However, I’ve found, paying for a service or training someone is the last step in getting the help we need. A few years ago, I was exhausted from working full time but couldn’t find a way to pay for any help. This is when I discovered a simple process for delegation. Soon after, I turned this into my ‘tiers of delegation’ model: http://bit.ly/delegatethatish The four tiers: 1) Routines to consolidate da ..read more

What to do with the Spaciousness Once we Actually Have it.
Anna De Salvo
by Anna De Salvo

Spaciousness, the feeling of an open room with nothing encroaching on our time. Creating this requires intention, as well as, discipline. For one, it becomes very clear once we develop space – we desire to fill it. We want to spend time doing something we really desire. However, when we do this, we often aren’t clear on the fact that open-ended space for the very sake of having it can be important. The biggest enemy of spaciousness is filling it with unnecessary items. Things we really don’t want to spend time doing but do nonetheless. These may be chores, catching up on work, or getting ahea ..read more

How to Find Calm in a Chaotic World.
Anna De Salvo
by Anna De Salvo

When the world feels chaotic, it can be disorienting. It’s difficult to know which way to move or how to find peace. There is a way to find peace without the world needing to calm down. In fact, it’s important we learn it so we never have to wait for that. We often look outside ourselves for the world to be a certain way before we take any action. This can show up as us blaming circumstances such as being “busy” or even others interrupting us for our lack of progress. Yet, this type of thinking is exactly what leads us to feel out of control often. If we are spending time waiting for the worl ..read more

The Alternative to Resolutions

Do you feel it? That new year energy that’s electrifying and energizing us to create goals then run towards them? But we’ve been here before… we’ve felt exhausted and deflated after a few weeks when we realize we’ve lost our motivation. What if we tried a different approach? We can think of our goals as building blocks. These build us into the person who achieves the next level of growth in our lives. We can focus on the behaviors we can control versus the outcomes we hope to achieve. These behaviors help build us into that person, instead of fizzling out in the launch. To do this, start in ..read more

Reclaim Balance with Weekly Rhythms.

How do we balance it all? The simple task of preparing for the week ahead can make a huge difference. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Finding balance is not a specific set of rules, but there are weekly rhythms that help us create spaciousness alongside our accomplishments. The intentions of weekly rhythms are to be easeful in repeating activities. We may use these to feel more connected to ourselves and our lives.⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One of these weekly rhythms for me is Set it Up Sunday. This is where I look over my calendar, coordinate with my hubby, and then schedule my Focusmate sessions to honor my focused work time ..read more

The Art of Saying No
Anna De Salvo
by Anna De Salvo

Hate saying no? You may not have to. The difficulty of saying ‘no’ is common in relationships. It’s challenging to tell someone you love or respect that you have other things you’d rather be doing. In order to protect our time, however, we may need to decline invitations that don’t fit on our calendar. What then? One of the best ways to avoid having to say no is simply setting up boundaries & expectations that don’t require you to utter the word. That means offering when you are available and how others might claim that time with as little intervention from you as possible. This looks ..read more
