As the Arduino is a microcontroller, would it not make more sense, that a flightcontroller would split up, flight controll , to be handled by an arduino , and higher functions, like comm. OSD, etc by a CPU ? Anybody worked on something like this ..read more

Hello all, I've seen this VTOL drone several times on web, and got curious for several reasons. Basically it is a 3.5m wingspan / 10kg payload VTOL. 1. It is being sold through online mall, or some cases it was introduced through events like exhibition, but not clear how to purchase.     * Number of probable dealers : China(7), South Korea(2) UK(1), Ukraine(1), Iran(1) 2. In most cases, it is being sold together with wingspan 2.5m model with similar design. 3. They have same design features and I think they're basically all the same aircraft, maybe minor differences(motors, antenna ..read more

Another Arm Failure Problem

I am building a quad and have reached the point where I want to try running each motor iindividually to make sure it spins in the correct direction and that I have correctly labled each ESC control plug. The motors are T-Motor MN5008 KV400 and require 6S voltage. I ordered a 10000 mAH lipo but accidentlly ordered a 4S instead of a 6S. I though that I could at least use it to test the gimbal, etc. To test a motor, I plugged it's ESC control line into CH 3 of my receiver, applied power and tried to arm/run the motor using the 4S lipo. The motor won't arm - it beeps continuously. I tried all the ..read more

Programming An Older Turnigy 9X - Help!

I am building a Tarot 650 Sport quadcopter with an Ardupilot APM flight controller and bought a used Turnigy transmitter from craigslist. THere was no documentation and so I'm trying to learn how to program it to suit my needs but I'm stuck with two issues. My needs are pretty simple - four flight control functions, gimbal tilt control, flight mode selection and landing gear operation (retract/extend). I've taken care of aileron, elevator, rudder, flight control and gimbal. tilt, but I'm having trouble with setting the landing gear and throttlel idle position. For the landing gear, I want to ..read more

FAA Regulations - How Difficult Is It To Be A Recreational Drone Pilot?
DIY Drones Forum

After a few years hiatus, I have decided to build a new quadcopter. It will be a Tarot 650 Sport utilizing strictly old tech stuff as it is what I'm familiar with and my needs are modest: 15 minutes endurance, a three-axis stabilized GoPro Hero 10 camera and the ability to fly/land autonomously but assume manual control as needed. I will be using an analog vtx and to assure a clear signal I have purchased a video transmitter that has switchable power levels up to 1000 mW - I expect that 600 mW will be sufficient for my needs as I don't expect to fly more than 100 yards away. I had an FAA ID w ..read more

Hi All! I'm working on madflight, a new DIY friendly flight controller for RP2040 / ESP32 / STM32 microcontrollers using the Arduino IDE. A fight tested release can be downloaded from Github: https://github.com/qqqlab/madflight The project is under heavy development, but the main components are working: IMU sensor fusion, PID control, radio control and telemetry, barometer and GPS. Converted Betaflight config files allow the code to run on most commercial flight controllers ..read more

Restrictions and options for spraying drones with total take-off weight less than 25KG
DIY Drones Forum

The European Union, China, Japan, South Korea, India etc. many countries that develop civilian drones have strict controls on drones, and there are three safety levels: L, M and H. If the weight of complete drone is less than 25KG, it is an open type. Buyers only need to register and take short training. However, if the weight is greater than 25KG, it will have strict flight area restrictions, appliaction restrictions and certification requirements. In India, due to the shortage of drone training agency and the high cost of certificate authorization, drones less than 25KG have become the main ..read more
