I think we all knew why Newcastle were tip-toeing around FFP (Financial Fair Play) even if, deep down, we would love the club to go out and splash the cash like Chelsea and, weirdly, Nottingham Forest. But the breaking news on Sky Sports today has hammered home the importance of playing by the rules as Manchester City have today been charged with financial breaches dating back to the 2009/10...

While fans left St James’ Park feeling disappointed yesterday following a draw with West Ham, Eddie Howe opted to look on the positive side of things. Speaking to the media after the game, Howe said: “I have to make sure the players don’t overreact to what is a point. People may say it’s a disappointment, but it depends on what context you’re looking at it in. You can see four draws in five or you...

Yesterday saw Eddie Howe replacing Bruno Guimaraes by moving his fellow Brazilian, Joelinton back into the centre of midfield and playing Allan Saint-Maximin on the left side of the attack as Newcastle were held to a draw by West Ham. It was a move that most fans had predicted would be the most likely solution to dealing with Bruno’s suspension as it was too soon to throw Anthony Gordon into the...

This season is such a contrast to last that at the same point of the season when last season we gained form, this season we feel like we’...
