Hi friends, Here's a lecture Dr. Lochhead gave for the IFSCC on the topic of sustainability narrative: https://ifscc.org/publications/library/ifscc-magazine/ I'd fall short talking about Dr. Lochhead (several papers publishe in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, patents, lectures). It's just such an opportunity to watch such an important scientist talk about this topic in an evidence-based and unbiased way.  Enjoy ..read more

Has anyone worked with Hydrated Silica

Hi everyone! Quick question - I want to use a natural silica in my heated oil stage to help lower the viscosity and add glide when applied in a moisturiser as well as any reducing any oily after feel. Ive tried hydrated microfine silica at around 0.5, 1 and 2% but Im pretty sure it clogs the odd pore in the skin giving a blocked pore that is hard and not easy to remove. Not good. Does anyone else have the same experience, are there better silicas out there that dont do this. Thanks   ..read more

Why is this form of vitamin C so expensive? Studies on actives are weak at best, does this somehow offer a more effective result? PS. I live near a sephora and I have been walking there everyday and using the expensive products instead of buying them. My skin looks slightly better than the products I make. Not enough to buy them but seems some of the products are effective. I  look a little younger too after just one month of daily use including 15% vitamin C. 90% of my skin texture improvements and anti wrinkle treatments are due to a very cheap urea cream I made and a collagen gummy th ..read more

Are there any written rules as to how to write an ingredient list for a label? I am hearing alot of "tribal knowledge" and different opinions in my group. One is anything above the 1% line has to be in quantity order. And anything below the 1% line can be in any order? How factual is this? references please ..read more
