This year’s annual Rodeo Road Trip has stint at home...sort of.
After this weekend’s All-Star Break the Spurs will have two “home” games in Austin’s Moody Center. As the Silver & Black continue to build their state capital fanbase, the Spurs Organization has announced a week full of festivities:

Castle’s played facilitator in his first win before carrying his team to the championship and on to Sunday.
Spurs rookie Stephon Castle has been on the rise over the last few weeks, and it continued to kick off All-Star weekend in the Rising Stars Challenge.
Starting for Team C in Game 1 alongside Zach Edey, Keyonte George, Dalton Knecht and Jaylen Wells, Castle’s team got out to a 19-7 start and never trailed, despite allowing Team T to make it interesting a few times. Castle himself mostly played the role of play-maker with several nice assists and hockey assists ..read more

Stephon Castle is the first Spur to participate in 37 years
Slam Dunk Contest
The highlight of the Saturday night’s All-Star Weekend festivities each year goes to the Slam Dunk Contest. This is also one of the oldest traditions to be paired with the All-Star Game. Going all the way back to 1976 when the Spurs were in the ABA, both George Gervin and Larry Kenon competed in the event. It became an on-going event throughout the season that was not unique to the All-Star Weekend.
It wasn’t until 1984 that the Slam Dunk Contest became a singular annual event. And in that first ..read more

Wembanyama has a real go-to partner
De’Aaron Fox’s first five games as a Spur have shown how much another game-changer was needed on the team. His speed is a perfect compliment to Victor Wembanyama because he puts defenders on his back hip very easily. Despite the team’s 2-3 record, the offensive rating has been high (117.2) since he arrived, and early returns show that the Spurs got another All-Star caliber player, so trading for him was the right move.
Notably, Fox is still in the “not trying to step on anyone’s toes” part of his integration, as he is taking 3.7 f ..read more

San Antoino gets a taste of the real deal
It wasn’t a disaster. I mean, it wasn’t pretty or anything. Getting blown out on national television isn’t something you seek out, but it wasn’t as bad as it might have looked to someone who just hopped online and checked the score this morning. The Spurs played the Celtics on the road and fought hard for 48 minutes. They didn’t embarrass themselves, and they didn’t look completely terrible. They were simply outclassed.
The Celtics won a title last year, and despite some minor squabbles, they’re on track to compete ..read more

Spurs head into the ASB with more questions than answers.
Coming off a much-needed win against the Washington Wizards, the Spurs traveled to Boston to take on the Celtics. The Spurs fell behind in the first, which was tough to recover from. They were outscored 37-19 in the first and were down as much as 24 in the first half. However, the Spurs attempted a comeback that got them within single digits early in the fourth. Unfortunately, the Celtics just countered with runs of their own. The Spurs’ biggest flaw was shooting an abysmal 23% from three. T ..read more

Former Spurs assistant knows the game well
It is no secret that Sean Elliott is not a fan of cold weather. His breaks tend to align with the Spurs extended trips into cooler climate.
Over the last two games, former Spurs assistant coach P. J. Carlesimo sat in for the “Memorial Day Miracle” legend. In Washington, D. C., and again in Boston, the long-time coach sat with Jacob Tobey calling the game.
Carlesimo, after going undrafted in 1971, moved right into coaching as an assistant at Fordham, his alma mater. Thus began a career spanning thirty-seven seasons serv ..read more

The Spurs went 2-4 in their six consecutive games on the road and will go into the All-Star break fading in the standings.
The Spurs finished the Rodeo Road Trip with a loss. A terrible start doomed them in Boston, as they faced a Celtics team that carved out a big lead and did enough to prevent a comeback to secure a 116-103 win.
A bigger, more talented contender limiting the Spurs on defense and scoring on them regularly shouldn’t be surprising. The unfortunate aspect of the first quarter was how little resistance San Antonio offered. They managed to keep up initi ..read more
