SharePoint Premium Document Translation is an awesome new feature to allow staff to translate documents from SharePoint document libraries. This is done either on-demand by pressing a button to translate files or by SharePoint document library rules. I previously blogged & reviewed SharePoint Premium Document Translation (link) and I was very impressed! Today I will demonstrate how to automate Document Translation using the Microsoft Syntex API (REST) with Power Automate and PowerShell. This opens up numerous automation possibilities by enabling the translati ..read more

A new update has come to Microsoft Syntex called taxonomy tagging. This allows existing Managed Metadata (termstore) columns to be added to a library and then AI will automatically tag documents matching terms in the termstore. The tagged documents can then help users to find documents through browsing and search. No rules or training of a model are required to setup taxonomy tagging. It is all configured by the end user in a library on the column settings of a managed metadata column. Here there is one configuration option a Yes/No toggle named Automatically tag documents with terms. As the ..read more

A new feature has come to Microsoft Syntex to allow users from a SharePoint document library or OneDrive to extract and merge PDFs. Users can combine two or more PDF files into a new PDF file with the Merge PDFs action or split PDF pages into new PDF files with the Extract pages action. This is all from the UI and n longer is there the requirement for users to remove the files from SharePoint/OneDrive and use third party software applications/upload to web sites offering this service. An anticipated update has dropped into my M365 tenant today for Microsoft Syntex image tagging. Once SharePoint libraries are enabled for Syntex Image tagging and images are uploaded they are then auto scanned by AI. The images are then tagged with descriptive keywords with no training or manual tagging required. The keywords are stored in a special Image Tags managed metadata column – which means once the images are tagged you can then search, refine and identify images. This is currently only available if Syntex pay as you go is configured in your tenant & linked to an Azure subscriptio ..read more

A new prebuilt (and pre-trained) Syntex model has been available in Microsoft Syntex for processing Contracts. The prebuilt contracts model recognises contracts in a variety of different formats and extracts key contract fields such as contract date, client name, execution date etc..! What’s special about the Syntex prebuilt models is that they have already pre-configured to recognise documents and structured information within the documents. In the case of the Contracts model the Syntex team have pre-trained the model with likely 1000s of differently formatted contracts and trained the model ..read more

A new update has been added into Syntex Content Assembly to allow the fields (placeholders) used when generating a document to be mapped to document library columns. In the modern template settings on publishing users are now prompted to choose which fields to map to document library columns. This is a great new feature as now when a document is created by a user it will be tagged with all the metadata values used when creating the document. So now for example you might create a Syntex modern template to send a letter to different companies. You could then specify company, fee amount etc to p ..read more

Effortlessly Collaborate With Document Annotation Now In Microsoft Syntex

A great new Microsoft Syntex update has recently become available to allow you to annotate documents in SharePoint. When the file is opened from SharePoint staff can draw and highlight various parts of the document. This allows users to collaborate on files with others by annotating i.e. highlight key sections/values. A key point to note here is that the actual document is not modified and an additional copy of the document is not made. So the document integrity it retained i.e. modified timestamps. Universal annotation is currently available if you have a Syntex per user licence and I think i ..read more

Images & Tables now supported in Microsoft Syntex Content Assembly

Recently a new update has been added to Microsoft Syntex Content Assembly to allow users to generate documents using images and tables as placeholders. I’ve have loved seeing the development of Syntex Content Assembly and using it to produce documents in bulk or single. The ability to add custom images or tables to documents is a big win for my customers. They will typically have lots of information in other lists or libraries and then want to use these entries to produce checklists & reports for engineers to perform actual on-site visits. In the case of images when a user is generating a ..read more
