When the next pitch is thrown at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, Texas baseball coach David Pierce will have two fewer options for his line-up card.
Texas confirmed this week that utility player Andre Duplantier II will miss the 2021 season after having surgery on his elbow. Infielder Brenden Dixon has also decided to transfer to a junior college.
OrangeBloods.com was the first to report on Duplantier. D1Baseball broke the news about Dixon’s departure and the player later took to Twitter to announce his next move.

Texas seniors Sam Ehlinger and Ta’Quon Graham both expressed support on Tuesday for two former teammates who recently left the Longhorns to chase their NFL dreams.
Over the weekend, offensive lineman Samuel Cosmi announced that he was opting out of the remaining games on Texas’ schedule. Safety Caden Sterns made the same decision on Monday. Both Cosmi and Sterns said they were leaving the Longhorns to prepare for the 2021 NFL Draft.
Texas has trips to Kansas State and Kansas left on its regular-season schedule. If Texas participates in the postseason, Cosmi and Sterns will also skip that bowl ..read more

For the second times in as many days, the Texas football team has lost a longtime starter and team captain.
Junior safety Caden Sterns will opt out of the rest of UT’s season, a source confirmed to the American-Statesman on Monday. In September, Sterns told reporters that he decided to participate in this coronavirus-shortened season because he had “things to prove.” Sterns also stated his desire to win a Big 12 title, but Texas has been essentially eliminated from championship contention even though two games remain on the schedule.

Highlights from Texas head coach Tom Herman’s weekly press conference on Monday ahead of Saturday’s Kansas State game:
Let’s give Herman some credit for at least this: He was peppered with direct questions about his job performance and security right off the bat (and, truthfully, all the way throughout the press conference), and unlike a couple of weeks ago when he brushed back on questions about his future, the Urban Meyer rumors and recent recruiting hits, today he took each question and answered each one — to varying degrees of full answers, of course. He didn’t come off defensive like he d ..read more
