In a previous post I asked about how to deal with quirky Bluetooth (Bt) in that it would not operate with more than one external device at a time. In order to utilise both Minis with one monitor I tried using an HDMI splitter to move back<>forth from 64-bit on the Mini '23 (Sonoma) to 32-bit on the Mini '18 (Mojave), in the hope that Bt would also move seamlessly, but a) Bt did not transition, and b) the monitor did not like it one bit. Most times I need to shut down any external Bt... Read more ..read more

My daughter told me she uses Google to do AI searches of here photo library. Cool. I want something like that for my library but it has to be like iTunes/Music and work with my existing photo library, which is on a detachable 4Tb drive and organized according to my own criteria. All the apps I've seen either require the library to be in iCloud or to be re-organized to fit the app. Years ago I had a photo cataloging app [name forgotten] that did work with my library, but of course, this... Probable email hacking?

We have just had an email supposedly from an old family friend. She claimed that she couldn't talk on the phone because of a bad bout of laryingitis. Quote "I'm unable to speak over the phone due to a serious throat pain caused by laryngitis. Let me know once this gets you, I need a favour to ask. Best wishes, Pam" It came originally with the friends full name and what looked like the correct address. Correct apart from '0101@gmal.com when it should have been... Read more ..read more

Hi, I would like to know if people shut of their Macs at night. I always left my iMac on. The studio display is what concerns me. I don't want to shorten the life span of the display. FWIW, the display on my 27" iMac was just as good as the studio display. Thank you ..read more

My wife's Mac Mail flashes and disappears with "Quit Unexpectedly". She can look at any and all Flagged emails without problems. She can look at any emails before 2 weeks ago without a problem, but as soon as she scrolls down past April 8 Mail disappears and gives the error. At first I focused on trying to figure out which one but never could nail a specific email. One suggestion was to delete the cache so I followed the directions to ~/Library/Mail/ and moved both Vx that were there to... Read more ..read more

On my iMac running Sonoma 14.4.1 both devices have become ultra sensitive, they select and drag items on the desktop that I haven’t selected and stick on others and will not let go! I have adjusted the tracking speed and disabled Tap to click without a result and DetectX hasn’t found any malware. This is very frustrating as it’s nearly impossible to control anything. Any ideas pleas ..read more

Using a printer for photocopies

My HP 3035 printer does good photocopies ... but I have to get some 30 or more photocopies for something. I'm inclined to think that using the HP 3050 will probably work out more expensive than going to the local copyshop for that number of copies. I think that "printer photocopies' are quite greedy on the ink cartridge. Comments appreciated ... M ..read more
