It's the most wonderful time of the year. Hoop heads across the country (and globe, we see you James) will pour over brackets, matchups, and televisions starting at noon Eastern on Thursday when the NCAA Tournament tips off. For Hornets' fans without a rooting interest in the Big Dance, now is the time to look at the college game with an eye on the NBA Draft. The top of the 2024 NBA Draft is loaded with international prospects who won't be competing in the NCAA Tournament this March. With Charlotte beelining for a top five pick, there aren't a ton of prospects to watch in the tournament. Howev ..read more

ORLANDO, FL - The Charlotte Hornets fell to the Orlando Magic for the third time in as many games against their division opponent this season, dropping this one 112-92. It was a tale of two halves as the Hornets were simply outmatched in the first 24 minutes of action, largely due in part to horrid offense. The bugs put up a grand total of 32 points and found themselves trailing at the break by 35.  They completely turned things around in the second half, outscoring the Magic 60-45. But as well as they played in the third and fourth quarters, the Hornets were never able to actually climb ..read more

Sam Dracula: Magic 111, Hornets 99. Orlando has the 5th-best record in the Eastern Conference and the best theme song in the league, oh oh ohhhhh . Charlotte’s last trip to Orlando didn’t go well, I expect more of the same for this trip. Prediction record: 7-1. Atticus Ferguson: Magic 114, Hornets 95. With March Madness upon us and the Hornets reverting back to their losing ways, these are truly the dog days of the NBA season for Charlotte fans. I’d suggest having one eye on this matchup, and one eye on some of the NCAA tournament first four action, as this one likely isn’t going to be overly ..read more

ESPN Experts Continue to Underrate Brandon Miller

At this point, there isn't much left to say about Brandon Miller. The much maligned second overall pick has walked into the NBA and answered any questions there were about his game within months. Miller sits third among rookies in points per game, eighth in rebounds, ninth in assists, sixth in steals, and eighth in blocks. Top ten rankings across the board for the Charlotte swingman. His film matches the stats. Miller is adept at creating his own shot and creating shots for others. Two surefire signs of NBA readiness. Our own James Plowright broke down Miller's offensive ability a few months a ..read more

Injury Report Charlotte Hornets: OUT - LaMelo Ball (R Ankle), Seth Curry (R Ankle), Cody Martin (L Ankle), Bryce McGowens (R Knee) and Mark Williams (Low Back) Orlando Magic: None Game Preview When I penned the Hornets vs. Grizzlies preview last week, I said something along the lines of "if you take a look at the injury reports, you'll see the story of these team's seasons." Both squads were littered with players listed as questionable, doubtful, or out. The same trope applies here. If you look at the injury reports, you'll learn everything you need to know about the Magic and the Hornets ..read more

Miller Ejected, Hornets Lose = More Sadness

Summary This wasn't a classic. Both teams were missing key players, with Embiid, Melton and Harris out for the Sixers and the Hornets missing their usual allotment of Ball, Williams, Martin and Curry. Offense was a struggle all night for both teams. Charlotte struggled out the gate forcing Clifford to call a timeout while trailing 7-15 in the 1st quarter. Charlotte pulled it back level and went toe to toe with the Sixerss for the rest of the half. A turning point came late in the second half when Brandon Miller was ejected, more on that below. Davis Bertans started the second half in Miller's ..read more
