Wisconsin guard Chucky Hepburn surprisingly entered the transfer portal on Thursday.
The now-former Badger guard is Wisconsin’s eighth departure this offseason — seven via the transfer portal and one via graduation. The Badgers will look a lot different in 2024-25, as starters Hepburn, A.J. Storr and Tyler Wahl are among those eight, plus depth guard Connor Essegian.

Former Wisconsin guard Chucky Hepburn released a statement on his decision to enter the transfer portal via Instagram on Thursday.
After three years as Greg Gard’s starting point guard, the Omaha, Nebraska native elected to depart Madison in search of an opportunity elsewhere.
In 103 career starts, Hepburn averaged 9.8 points, 3.0 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. His impact on both sides of the ball made him a driving force behind the team’s success, and transformed him into a fan favorite at the Kohl Center.

The shocking news comes after the Badgers already lost top guard A.J. Storr to the portal earlier in the offseason.

The redshirt sophomore was unranked by 247Sports during the class of 2022 recruiting cycle and walked on with the Badgers over offers from New Mexico State, Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado.

Wisconsin football added a commitment from class of 2025 athlete Grant Dean on Wednesday.
Dean is a three-star recruit according to 247Sports, and ranked as the No. 97 athlete in the class and No. 11 recruit from the state of Wisconsin. He chose the Badgers over offers from Wyoming, Army, North Dakota State and Northern Illinois.

Wisconsin is in pursuit of former Louisville running back Peny Boone, according to Rivals’ Marshall Levenson.
Boone entered the transfer portal after only spending the spring with the Cardinals. He transferred there in January after two decorated years at Toledo, that after spending the first two years of his career at Maryland.
