Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Bright Wireko-Brobby, has appealed to teacher unions in the country to exercise restraint as government works around the clock to pay their Tier-2 pension arrears. “This is not the first time we’ve been in arrears, but it is not something that government will renege on. The General Secretary of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Thomas Musah, says pensioners are having a hard time due to the unpaid tier two for them. Mr Musah says looking at those on pension, for the past two years, their daily livelihood is nothing to write home about. An irate youth group calling itself Total force in Tamale have burnt tyres at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regional office in Tamale over the change in the parliamentary leadership. A burial ceremony has been held for Sergeant Owusu Asante Baafi who together with his wife Abena Akyaa and their four-month-old baby died in a fire outbreak at Apromasi in the Ashanti Region. The 35-year-old man and his 32-year-old wife were buried on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Adomfe in the Asante Akyem South Municipality of the Ashanti Region. Some residents swiftly missed death when a tipper truck driver veered off at Akroso off the Winneba-Akim-Oda road in the Eastern Region.
