I'm Anna Liesemeyer. I started this blog as a graphic designer, with an affinity towards all things design. The goal of this space continues to be a place that looks for a perspective to make the most of the life you have been given. We have 5 little ones with one on the way and address these adventures with as much honesty and humor as we can.

We just finished our last paint project a few weeks back. I always had a color story planned, but not necessarily every paint color picked in advance. I knew I wanted a few bold rooms so the dining room was the easiest to pick, but I took all the time in the world deciding on kitchen cabinet colors. I wanted to put together a color index of sorts so it is easy to reference if you are looking for a paint color! So here we are: all of the paint colors around our home…

I halted style posts for the past several years because I no longer had the time to shoot photos outside of the home, let alone shop for clothes! I still never want to spend time going into stores, and often find myself browsing the internet with little luck on finding items I like! I have always loved the capsule concept for ease, affordability, and overall less consumption.
However, anyone else feel like it’s a wild goose chase to find items that aren’t crop top/plunge top/backless, under $100, and decent quality? I have heard m ..read more

We are moving this summer. A bittersweet decision we made early this spring, and have been trying to process the reality as the timeline is moving so quickly! The last three years have felt like a decade it seems. We had decided to move to Nashville prior to the onset of the pandemic, before the world shut down and the housing market soared. We thought this would be the city where we would plant roots. Even though we didn’t expect it to be our long term home, this home has been a safe haven for our family these last 3 years. Within these walls we brought home a new baby, celebrated life, grie ..read more

We often debate what is worth doing ourselves, and what is worth hiring out for home renovation projects. Sometimes the time involved isn’t realistic for us to tackle with a full and busy house! This was our big debate with our staircase renovation. Today we are going to share the process for how to refinish staircase railings, as well as the before and after photos of the whole staircase renovation.
(Where we started)
We have two sets of stairs, a hallway, and hand rails that needed renovating. We had a few contractors come out to look at the scope of work and give us a q ..read more

We just wrapped our bedroom renovation, and it’s time for a little before and after fun. I had Augustine in our room till he was almost 8 months old so it was never a convenient time to paint and move things around. We never prioritize our bedroom since we are only in there at night, but what an incredible difference it makes to have a peaceful retreat to breathe in! After thinking through how to work with some of our old furniture pieces, I made some design plans to put in motion. Excited to share the outcome….

We got these 4 dining chairs from West Elm 5 years ago. I love the the unique style, and how well they have held up through daily use. Since I get asked about them often I went ahead and did a hunt around the web for similar options and included a windsor chair round up below!

We shared the refinishing process of this craftsman table here, as well as more about the pleated pendant and how we hung it! We have been using our dining room as a makeshift shipping station ..read more

Our small space laundry room was a challenge to use due to the door opening into the space vs. outward. It required some mild ninja level skills to get laundry in and out! Once the dryer died, we went ahead and rode the wave through a whole renovation of the space. Thinking through how we would use this space, we decided to maximize every inch!

We started with adding luxury vinyl tile right over the old linoleum. We shared a how-to install LVT tile in this post. It’s very easy to clean, waterproof, and durable!

The process of buying a washer and dryer can be overwhelming considering all of the new options available. Thanks to the feedback you all sent us we were able to narrow down the top brands known for quality. From there, we did our own research and ended up choosing Maytag brand. Plus, our previous Maytag® Washer lasted us 14 years (and we purchased it used): talk about a dependable appliance. I’m excited to share more about the Maytag® set we chose, and some of the washer and dryer features that sold us when purchasing at Maytag.com.

We have had the Apt2B tuxedo sectional for a few months now, and happy to report it has been incredibly comfortable and spacious for our crew. One of the main reasons we chose this one was for quality. (See this post about best sectionals.) The microfiber velvet is also very easy to clean! Gus already drew on it with pen, and it came right out with rubbing alcohol. Alleluia! The pillows are easy to fluff, and the softness is medium firm. It’s on sale for President’s Day Weekend!
