Early in the second quarter of Sunday’s Jaguars/Texans game, we saw James Robinson get his 8th rushing TD of the year. What you might not have noticed was the Jaguars fan who jogged onto the field from the back of the end zone and threw his hands in the air. It’s not clear if he was trying to signal to QB Trevor Lawrence that he was open, or if he was just getting ready to celebrate his team’s touchdown.
But either way, security wasn’t happy about it, charging onto the field and tackled him from behind. While the CBS broadcast only caught a glimpse of the rogue man in the corner of the screen ..read more

Urban Meyer’s stint with the Jaguars (and likely the NFL) is over. After just 13 games, the Jaguars Jacksonville have fired the former Ohio State head coach, ending a rocky first year with the franchise.
”After deliberation over many weeks and a thorough analysis of the entirety of Urban’s tenure with our team, I am bitterly disappointed to arrive at the conclusion that an immediate change is imperative for everyone,” owner Khan said in a statement released early Thursday morning. “I informed Urban of the change this evening. As I stated in October, regaining our ..read more

Last season the Jags won just one game, and due to that earned the first overall pick in the NFL Draft in which they took Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence.
The team is hoping that the quarterback can quickly transition to being a stud QB in the NFL, and that with new coach Urban Meyer the team is looking to have a much better team overall in 2021.
That doesn’t mean it’ll be easy, as the team has a tough 2021 slate they have to deal with.
While there’s a number of great matchups on the Jags slate, including divisional games vs the Texans, Titans and Colts, the team also has a number of great games ..read more

Last season was a bad one for the Jags, as the team simply wasn’t able to get things going, and by the time it was said and done they had won just a single game.
Enter Urban Meyer.
The former Florida and Ohio State coach is now running the show, and the team went out and drafted Trevor Lawrence with the first overall pick, a player they feel will make a HUGE difference in the season coming up.
Lawrence and the Jags are ready to be MUCH better in 2021, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be easy. The team has a chance to be a force in the AFC South, and should at the least challenge the other three ..read more

First-time NFL coach Urban Meyer has the ability, as Bill Parcells once famously put it, to shop for his own groceries. If Meyer covets a player as a coach, he can make those wishes come true.
Despite owning power few NFL coaches wield, Meyer noted Wednesday that sometimes he shouldn’t always get his way, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports. Meyer said he must lean on GM Trent Baalke and the rest of his staff to steer him towards the best players, even if his coaching instinct tells him to fill gaps at certain positions.
“I find myself always looking at need and that’s where you have to be cautiou ..read more

The Jaguars made it official on Thursday morning, naming former 49ers GM Trent Baalke as their new General Manager.
Baalke comes to the team after serving as Niners GM from 2011 to 2016. With Baalke as general manager the Niners were 51-44-1.
He was named interim GM for Dave Caldwell, who was canned by the Jaguars in January.
“Trent Baalke has had success at virtually every level of football, notably so as a General Manager who shrewdly and quickly built an NFL conference championship organization and team,” Jaguars owner Shad Khan said in a statement.
“That experience inspired us to recruit ..read more

The coach that is the apple of the Jaguars eyes will be in town today, as Urban Meyer will sit down with the Jags about their open coaching position.
NFL Network states no deal is set to happen right away, and that other candidates will still speak to the Jags about the opening before making a decision.
Meyer’s name has been bantered about since the moment Doug Marrone was dismissed, and with the former Ohio State and Florida coach could come a price tag that could pay him up to $12 mil a year.
The coach has three national titles to his name with a 187–32 record as head coach, and a 12-3 mark ..read more

The Jaguars made it official on Monday morning, a day after wrapping up a 1-15 season that head coach Doug Marrone would not be back for the 2021 season.
“I am committed and determined to deliver winning football to the City of Jacksonville,” Jaguars owner Shad Khan said in a statement.
“Realizing that goal requires a fresh start throughout our football operations, and with that in mind I spoke this morning with Doug Marrone to express my gratitude for his hard work over the past four seasons as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“I’ll always appreciate Doug’s passion, grit and class ..read more
