Who:  The Indianapolis Colts vs the Tennessee Titans What:  Week 10 of the 2020 NFL season. Where:  Nissan Stadium, Nashville, TN. When:  8:20 PM Eastern, Thursday, November 12th. TV: FOX. Oh hey, another road game in prime time. Won’t lie: I originally thought the game was on NBC and panicked, because there’s no way I could handle Cris Collinsworth four days after how today’s game played out. Today was bad. The Colts were off to a great start. Totally had the Ravens on their heels and then boom, the Taylor fumble completely changed the game. I read so many “He’s just a roo ..read more

Who:  The Seattle Seahawks vs the Indianapolis Colts. What:  Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season. FOOSBALL. It’s back, even if mama says it’s the devil. Stay out of it, mama. Where:  Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN. When:  1 PM Eastern, Sunday, September 12th. TV: FOX. Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma are on the call. For once, I don’t anything negative to say about the announcing crew. I mean, they’re ok I guess. Why the Colts will score more than the other guys: My initial reaction is “well, they ain’t,” but this is no place to be saying things like that. There are valid rea ..read more

(Author’s note: This article was started on January 20, but sometimes life intervenes and we have to put things off. This is a meandering, odd piece, but I hope as Colts fans you’ll eventually understand where I’m coming from – just like I did with Philip Rivers.) Unless you missed it – was there something else in the news today? I can’t remember – Philip Rivers announced his retirement after 17 seasons. A lot of what I’m about to say here are things I had rolling around my head a few weeks ago. Until the ugly 2nd half debacle against Pittsburgh, I’d envisioned saying much of this after Rivers ..read more

Philip Rivers addresses possibility of retirement after playoff exit

Philip Rivers gave it all he had in his final game under contract with the Colts, and played well, but came up just short in the 27-24 loss. Rivers has been playing out a one-year contract, and it’s unclear if the team will want him back or not. In fact, it’s possible that Rivers could even choose to retire, possibly to get a job as an analyst or maybe even broadcaster. But to his credit, he played well against a well-coached Bills defense. Rivers completed 27 of 46 passes for 309 yards, with two touchdowns. And, most importantly, he didn’t turn the football over. He was asked if that will be ..read more

Who:  The Indianapolis Colts vs the stupid Pittsburgh Steelers What:  Week 16 of the 2020 NFL season. Where:  Ketchup Field, Pittsburgh, PA. When:  1 PM Eastern, Sunday, December 27th. TV: CBS. Jim Nantz! Tony Romo! It’s the NFL on CBS! I’ve been a fan of Romo since the start, but feel like he’s started to slide too far into announcer mode. He’s starting to become almost Collinsworth-like (which is NEVER a good thing) in his constant praise of certain QB’s. Alas, there’s probably no going back. Jim Nantz is the Alpha of all current sports broadcasters, and has been for seve ..read more

Who:  The Houston Texans vs the Indianapolis Colts What:  Week 15 of the 2020 NFL season. Where:  Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN. When:  1 PM Eastern, Sunday, December 20th. TV: CBS. We are once more blessed with the duo of Greg Gumbel and former MVP Rich Gannon. Remember much earlier in the season when I said the way to avoid the Spero Dedes of this world was to win? Well, here we are. The author took a well deserved break last week. Life intervened. If you’re one of the five people who read this fine literature, I apologize. Who:  The Indianapolis Colts vs the Houston Texans What:  Week 13 of the 2020 NFL season. Where:  Reliant Stadium, Houston, TX. When:  1 PM Eastern, Sunday, December 6th. TV: CBS. Last week we had CBS’ #2 team of Ian Eagle and Charles Davis. Terrible broadcast. There’s no way Eagle does pregame film study of the teams he’s covering. The network thought firing his longtime partner Dan Fouts would help. It hasn’t. This week we get Greg Gumbel and former MVP Rich Gannon. Ian Eagle and Charles Davis are on the call. It was 11/24 when I started typing this section. It’s 11/28 now. I lost track of how many times I’ve erased what I’ve written here. Why? This is the national game of the week. Joe and Troy again! #Blessed. Why the Colts will score more than the other guys: 1. World Peace or something This is the fifth meeting between the two teams since the NFL went to its current scheduling format in 2002, and the first four games were all great: 2004: Peyton Manning, on his way to a record setting year, throws 5 TD’s.
