What’s Goodles for 2002? Mac is Back!

I take full responsibility that it’s 2022 and my son still doesn’t love to “eat his veggies.” I pick my battles, and while he doesn’t eat fast food every day, I am still trying to get him to realize that things DO taste better than just mac and cheese or pizza. But it’s a battle every day. I don’t remember particularly begging my own parents for lima beans and carrots for dinner when I was 9 either, but I also feel like food was still FOOD when we were kids. Nowadays it seems so much more is “processed.” So the same question remains – how do we get more veggies into our kids’ diet?  If y ..read more

The holidays came in hot this year, not that many are complaining. It also means SNOW and ski season is right around the corner. While we’ve taken a step back these last couple years in large, over-the-top festive celebrations, we’ve reconnected with family and friends more than ever. We’ve realized that spending a few uninterrupted quiet moments under a tree sharing a snack together means a lot more than stressful holiday outings and parties. And so, we’re excited to see that the Little Bites Butter Cookie Flavored Muffins are back for a limited time. They are simple, sweet and memorable – j ..read more

Turning Life Lemons into a Chef-Worthy Pesto Marinade Meal
Football Food & Motherhood

When life gives you lemons, make a delicious chef-worthy meal. If we’ve learned anything through this pandemic, it’s to find a little for ourselves. If that means a nap, a bath or therapy in the kitchen, or even just binging Netflix – I don’t judge! But for me, I like to do all of the above. And then some. I have always enjoyed time in the kitchen, but as a Gemini, I get bored making the same meals over and over, so finding time to be creative in this tiny slice of heaven in our NYC apartment has been a godsend. See, turning life’s lemons into a lemony marinade. I always love pesto, but thoug ..read more

The best (and easiest) plant-based ramen recipe you’re not making

Tofu. Some love it, some hate it, but when you’re plant-based, it can be a pretty big staple in your meal lineup. It can also be hard to master at first. I’m still trying to perfect my own tofu scramble. So when Naysoa came out with their Garlic and Herb Toss’ables, it was a game-changer. These little bites come ready to eat – right out of the bag! I snack on them WHILE I am making dinner. Be warned. Nasoya, the nation’s leading tofu brand, recently launched Plantspired – a new line of convenient, plant-based meal solutions ready to be enjoyed in minutes,  and this is ..read more

Every mom deserves some time off. Especially these days. I remember feeling extremely guilty to leave Max when he was little, but finally, I noticed that having time away is good for us. It’s like they say on planes – you can’t save anyone unless you put your mask on first. So as a word of advice, I tell all moms out there reading this – TAKE THE VACATION. Even if it’s just a couple of hours to take a walk. Go. Don’t feel guilty. It will make you a better person and we all need that right now. So now you’re all – “okay, so where do I go? What do I do?” I  get it. It’s hard to think you c ..read more

This low-carb bread is your new favorite summer staple
Football Food & Motherhood

Aren’t you in love with bread? Aren’t we all? I could literally eat carbs on carbs on carbs. Keto never worked for me because I could literally make a mountain of mashed potatoes and rice on bread and eat it every day for the rest of my life. Sadly, carbs have become a summer bods least friend. So what is one to do? Find delish LOW CARB bread. Carbonaut is only 2 grams per slice (and only 80 calories PLUS 6 grams of protein), so you can really stack it up. In fact, fiber is proven to be one of the best things for you to eat! And luckily, this fits in well with my plant-based lifestyle. So I ..read more

Flavor Your Life at dinner this week!

We (ahem, I) love food. I feel like it’s really my life purpose, part of the human experience. I’ve said many times my dream job would be to travel the world and eat and be Anthony Bordain. I still believe that and have sort of been able to achieve that. We travel a lot and I always make a point to eat at the local joints. Plus, we live in NYC, the mecca of international cuisine. And Queens is ground zero for ethnic flavors. Greek? Indian? Italian?  Mexican? Forget it. We go beyond that. It’s which Island in Greece, which part of Mexico and let’s not even go into Sicilian vs. the rest o ..read more

How to keep technology from overtaking your (and your kids’) life

We’re all exhausted from technology at this point. Burnout is a real thing. But I saw it coming months ago and thought – I don’t want to look back a year from (when COVID hit) and think, wow that was a dark time. I didn’t want to give up and let it win. Luckily for us, we were quarantined in Pennsylvania, with a broken arm however, so we had access to lots of woods, trails and nature right outside our backdoor. But many didn’t. And I knew once we returned to NYC, I was still going to have to work and somehow keep Max busy and entertained. I wanted to let him enjoy some time online playing game ..read more

Hey NY! Your kids can ski for free all season – here’s how!

During a pandemic, we skied/snowboarded for 30 days this season. And we live in NYC! That seems low to some and high to others. Let me break it down this way, we spent 30 days on a mountain from December-March and we never jumped on a plane. I wish I could say it was 70 days, but my point is – even when you live in a big city – there are SO MANY mountains close enough (and good ones here on the East Coast) to get your days in. In fact, some are even accessible by train for New Yorkers. And even better? If you have a 3rd or 4th grader, they ski for FREE all season (with the purchase of an adul ..read more
