The World Curling championship spotlight moves to Sweden between 20 and 27 April when the Oestersund Arena plays host to the World Mixed Doubles Championship and World Seniors Championships.
Oestersund is located in Jamtland, the middle of Sweden. The city is home to over 50,000 people and is the region’s cultural and economic centre. It is also one of Sweden’s best organisers of sports events, in a range of disciplines.

The World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2024 is taking place from Saturday 20 until Saturday 27 April in Oestersund, Sweden.

Olympic champions Sweden beat Canada by 6-5 in Sunday afternoon’s gold medal final to claim the LGT World Men’s Championship 2024 title.
These two teams had emerged as the top two from the round-robin phase. As table-toppers, Sweden started this final with last-stone advantage.
After blanking the first end, Sweden’s Niklas Edin opened the scoring in the second, taking two and then stealing a single in the third, to take a 3-0 lead.

Although they had lost to Sweden in Saturday’s semi-finals, Italy had the consolation of picking up bronze medals in the LGT World Men’s Curling Championship 2024, with a 7-6 extra end win over Scotland. The Scots had lost their semi-final and their status as world champions to Canada in Saturday’s semi-final.
In the first end, Scotland skip Bruce Mouat was facing five Italian counters when he opened the scoring with a draw for one point.
Italy then responded in the second when their skip Joel Retornaz also played a draw for one, to level the score at 1-1.

Canada will play Sweden for the world title in Sunday’s final at the LGT World Men’s Championship.
The Canadians beat Scotland by 9-4 and Sweden emerged as 5-3 winners over Italy in Saturday’s semi-finals.
To reach their semi-final against Canada, Scotland had earlier beaten United States by 8-4 in Saturday morning’s qualification game.

After 20 sessions of round-robin play, the play-off scenario at the LGT World Men’s Championship has now been set.
Sweden finished off their round-robin programme with an 11th win over Korea (7-4) in the afternoon before picking up their only loss by 6-8 against defending champions Scotland, with skip Niklas Edin sitting that game out.
Despite this loss, the Swedes take the coveted top spot, going straight to the semi-finals and having last-stone advantage all the way now.

The weekend play-off picture started to take shape during Thursday’s second-last day of round-robin play at the LGT World Men’s Championship.
In the morning session, table-toppers Sweden beat United States by 6-4 while second-placed Canada were 7-4 winners over Norway. These results guaranteed qualification for the two leading teams.

During the World Curling open meetings held at the LGT World Men’s Curling Championship 2024 in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, World Curling’s members took part in discussions looking to the future of curling events for the next Olympiad and beyond as part of the consultation process started by the new Events Working Group. Those present looked at all aspects of events from hosting arrangements to how to increase attendance and engagement.

Switzerland pleased the home crowd with two wins in Tuesday’s round-robin play at the LGT World Men’s Championship.
They followed up a 10-4 win over Japan in Tuesday’s morning session with a 9-7 defeat of Korea in the evening.
Other teams to have two wins on Tuesday were Canada and Germany.
Canada had to come from behind to beat New Zealand by 7-4 in the morning, but then had a six-end 8-2 defeat of United States in their evening game.
