Hi, I'm looking for a low-cost recommendation for a gaming laptop (preferably under $400). The PC would be solely for gaming and nothing else. Honestly, I play TF2 the most, so I don't need anything ridiculous. But I've also been on Macs the past 20 years and have missed out on many games that don't run on Mac OS. While I'll mostly be messing around in TF2 and Borderlands, I would love to also finally get to experience some gems I've missed out on (every Fallout, The Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption, etc.). The last gaming PC I built was a tower setup in the early 2000s, so any help would be ap ..read more

I bought a Galaxy Book 2, arrived just yesterday and it already started having trackpad issues. I started the process to return it, but now I need something to use. My model was the i5 one, with 8GB RAM and 256GM SSD, since these upgrade are quite easy to perform. My use is mostly for my college and learning programming ..read more

So I’ve been in the market trying to upgrade my laptop as I currently have a MacBook Pro (2020). This month I found out about the new (April 2024) lenovo yoga book and was fascinated with the dual screen, keyboard and the specs of the laptop. However, I stumbled upon the Asus Zenbook Duo and found an overwhelming amount of positive reviews about the laptop too. Here’s a list to provide a scope of what my usage on a laptop looks like: I’m in college getting my masters in accountancy and really need the duality of two screens. I post YouTube makeup videos and edit them using Final Cut Pro whi ..read more

My very first laptop was the Toshiba T1000SE which I bought in 1989. It was cool that it has a backlit LCD screen that is relatively large at the time. It also weighted just 5.5lbs. In sum, being lighter and have backlit screen over its predecessor T1000. I really loved it at the time. But I could do very little with it. Just running Microsoft works with it most of the time. It didn't have a hard disk nor Windows compatibility. What was your very first laptop and how do you remember it ..read more

Hello, I'm a software developer and I'm looking for a laptop recommendation. I use both Windows 11 and Ubuntu Linux at work. Here are the details of what I'm looking for: 1. What is your budget? Around US$ 2,000 - US$ 2,700. 2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? From 14' to 16'. Preferably 15' or 16'. 3. What screen resolution do you want? I'd like a higher resolution display. Something like 2880 x 1800 or above. 4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? Closer to a desktop replacement. 5. How much battery life do you need? Battery life is relevant ..read more

I sadly can’t show a photo, but I have a laptop (hp pavilion 15 something) and I noticed a while ago that the middle - the right of the keyboard is very slightly bulging, so slightly in fact that most things don’t wobble when I set it on it, but it’s definitely there. I mean it’s fairly visible. The keys probably compress slightly and keep things from wobbling. Anyway, the bulge hasn’t gotten any bigger in almost a year, and it seems to work fine except its battery life it getting pretty short. But sense it’s so slight and hasn’t grown, u don’t think it’s the battery that has expanded. Any ide ..read more

Hello there! I'm upgrading my lenovo thinkpad t420 cpu from a i5 2520m to i7 2760QM. The laptop has native support for 16Gb RAM with the original i5 2520m, but checking on the intel ark website, the new processor has support up to 32Gb. By upgrading the processor, does that automatically mean that the RAM could be upgraded to 32Gb or there would be other incompatibility issues? Thanks for your time ..read more
